Solstad Offshore, Creditors Agree on Draft Restructuring Plan

While it is generally agreed that the nascent offshore wind energy market in the U.S. will be a newbuild market, there is a repair and conversion possibility for some stacked OSVs.Though estimates on the pace of the offshore wind energy market in the U.S. vary widely, the direction is clear: offshore wind will be a huge marketplace for construction and support vessels to be deployed in U.S. waters over the next decade. The starting point for estimated vessel demand is the raft of projects along the U.S. East Coast, and to a lesser extent, in the Pacific waters, now in the pipeline.

Hornbeck Offshore Delisted from NYSE

DEME Unveils First SOV for Offshore Wind

Belgium-based offshore wind installation specialist Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV (DEME) has started building its first service operation vessel (SOV), which will be chartered by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) for work at three Belgian offshore wind farms (OWF).Concepted by DEME and further designed in close cooperation with Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam and Marin , this innovative vessel  significantly improves safety, comfort and workability for wind farm technicians even in the roughest sea conditions.

EMS Offshore Chooses Damen Shoalbuster 271

Damen Shipyards Group has won an order from maritime services company EMS Offshore Service GmbH & Co. KG for a Shoalbuster 2711. The 2711 is the latest addition to the Shoalbuster range, having made its debut in June this year.The new Shoalbuster 2711 design changes will enable it to comply with new MLC regulations stipulating additional accommodation capacity. By increasing the width of the existing Shoalbuster 2709 by two meters, Damen has boosted the accommodation capacity from six to seven personnel.

Farstad Supply Sells PSV Far Swift

Norwegian offshore service and supply ship shipping company Solstad Offshore said that its wholly owned subsidiary Farstad Supply AS has sold the platform supply vessel (PSV) Far Swift.Delivery of the 2003-built vessel to the new owner took place October 31st, 2019, said a press note.The sale of the vessels will have a minor positive accounting effect for 4Q 2019, it said.Farstad Supply AS manufactures and supplies offshore vessels. JR Shipping Adds 2 Container Feeder Ships

Netherlands' short sea shipping firm JR Shipping has expanded its container feeder fleet by purchasing a vessel and entering into a new management contract.According to a press note from the Harlingen-based shipowner and manager, the two vessels were transferred to the shipping company. They will be registered under the flag of Madeira and sail under the names MV Expert and MV Energy. Confeeder Shipping & Chartering is responsible for the commercial management.The new management contract concerns MV Expert.
