Furetank Fleet Adds LNG-fuelled Fure Vinga
Swedish shipping company Furetank Rederi AB, a part of the Gothia Tanker Alliance, has taken delivery of its latest vessel, Fure Vinga, the first in a series of six 17.999 DWT product tankers with LNG operation. "We welcome Fure Vinga to our alliance! We wish the ship and her crew fair winds and good fortune!," said Gothia Tanker Alliance in a Twitter message. The vessel has been transferred to Furetank following successful sea trials and started its trip from the shipyard of Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding in China, sailing to Europe.

Ship cooling technology has a new name. Eminating from Finland, Gadcooler is a new ship cooling tech that is designed to save energy. Targeting the ferry and cruise ship sectors to start, the company recently announced its first installation success onboard Eckerö Line's cruise ferry m/s Finlandia over a period of two years. To help savve fuel the system uses existing onboard excess waste heat sources to provide chilled cooling water for the vessel's air-conditioning needs, replacing the need to run onboard cooling compressors.

Furetank and Älvtank extend the order with two more of next generation Intermediate Product/Chemical Tankers with LNG propulsion. Furetank Rederi AB and Rederi AB Älvtank have added the previous order with two more newbuildings. Last year a contract signed by the constellation Furetank, Älvtank and Thun Tankers to let build four chemical/product tanker in the intermediate segment of the Chinese shipyard Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding. The vessels will be built with special focus on minimal impact on the environment, with close to 50 percent reduction of CO2 emissions.

Gothia Orders Four LNG-Powered Tankers
Swedish cargo transporter Gothia Tanker Alliance has ordered four newbuilding intermediate product/chemical tankers with LNG propulsion. The vessels will be built to a design, developed by FKAB and Furetank, with close to 50 % reduction of CO2 emissions. Partners of the alliance, Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Thun Tankers BV, have hired Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd. for the construction of the 16,300 dwt tankers. Scheduled for delivery in 2018/2019, two of these 20,000m3 tankers will be owned by Furetank, and Älvtank and Thun Tankers will own one each.
Bestobell Reports Headway in Chinese Market

Wärtsilä to Power LNG-fueled RoPax Ferry
A ferry being built for Sweden’s Rederi AB Gotland will be fueled by LNG, featuring a Wärtsilä integrated solution which includes a complete LNG powered propulsion- and fuel storage and supply system, as well as comprehensive project services. It will be the first Swedish flagged LNG powered passenger vessel and the first LNG-fuelled high speed RoPax ferry in the world. The vessel will be built at the Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) yard in China and when delivered, will sail between the Swedish mainland and the island of Gotland. GSI placed the contract with Wärtsilä in November.
