Coast Guard Looks to Fill TSAC Vacancies

Transportation Safety Board Issues Marine Safety Advisory

regarding the adequacy of vessel mooring arrangements in the wake of the January 9 incident where the MV Quinsam unexpectedly pulled away from the dock. Consistent with BC Ferries’ commitment to releasing Marine Safety Advisories, attached is a copy of the document. said David Hahn, BC Ferries’ President and CEO. In the meantime, BC Ferries internal investigation into the MV Quinsam incident continues and the final report is anticipated this week.

Meetings of National Boating Safety Advisory Council

The National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC) and its subcommittees, sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in San Mateo, California on October 27-29, 2002. The purpose of the meetings are to review issues related to review of boating safety regulations, boats and associated equipment, aftermarket marine equipment, and prevention through people. Meetings of National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee

The National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) and its Liftboat subcommittee, sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in Houston on November 6-7, 2002. Towing Safety Advisory Committee to Meet in St. Louis

The Towing Safety Advisory Committee and its working groups will meet in St. Louis on Sept. 21-22, 2006, to discuss various issues relating to shallow-draft inland and coastal waterway navigation and towing safety. All meetings will be open to the public. Both the advisory committee and its working groups will meet in Salons A & B at the Hilton St. Louis Airport, located at 10330 Natural Bridge Road, St. Louis, Mo. The working groups will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the advisory committee will meet on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, also from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

SUMMARY: The Coast Guard seeks applications for membership on the Houston/Galveston Navigation Safety Advisory Committee (HOGANSAC). This Committee provides advice and makes recommendations to the Coast Guard on matters relating to the safe transit of vessels and products through Galveston Bay, and to and from the Ports of Galveston, Houston, Texas City, and Galveston Bay.

Coast Guard Asks for NOSAC Applications

Vacancies on National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC; Coast Looks for Applicants. AGENCY: Coast Guard, DHS. ACTION: Request for applications. SUMMARY: The Coast Guard seeks applications for membership on the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee. This Committee advises the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on matters and actions concerning activities directly involved with or in support of the exploration of offshore mineral and energy resources insofar as they relate to matters within Coast Guard jurisdiction. National Harbor Safety Committee Conference

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Houston/Galveston Navigation Safety Advisory Committee are hosting the Fourth Annual National Harbor Safety Committee Conference in Galveston on March 3-5, 2002. Items on the agenda include a review of harbor safety in the Port of New York/New Jersey following the terrorist attacks; contemporary port security issues; port risk and vulnerability; and harbor infrastructure issues. The Lower Mississippi River Waterway Safety Advisory Committee (LMRWSAC), sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in New Orleans on November 16. TSAC Meeting Announced

The Towing Vessel Inspection Working Group of the Towing Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC), sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in Arlington, Virginia on May 1 and 2 to discuss elements of the safety management system and inspection regime. 70 Fed. Reg. 20923 (HK Law)

NOSAC Meeting Scheduled for February 3

The National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC), sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will conduct a teleconference meeting on February 3. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the formation of a subcommittee on application of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention to various types of offshore support vessels working in foreign locations. 70 Fed. Towing Safety Committee to Meet

TSAC – meeting Two working groups of the Towing Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC), sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in Arlington, Virginia to discuss issues related to towing vessel safety. The Regulatory Review Working Group will meet on April 27 to discuss travel time for towing vessel officers. HOGANSAC to Meet

Houston/Galveston Navigation Safety Advisory Committee (HOGANSAC) will hold its next public meetings on September 5, 2002 (working groups only) and September 19, 2002 (full committee), at the offices of the Houston Pilots Association in Houston, Texas.
