Simrad Debuts HALO 2000, HALO 3000 Radars at FLIBS

Simrad Yachting unveiled two of its new radar products this week: the Simrad HALO 2000 and HALO 3000. HALO 2000, starting at $6,399, and HALO 3000, starting at $8,499, both feature higher power pulse compression and improved detection ranges to offer the most powerful Simrad HALO radars on the market. Simrad Intros HALO20+ Radar

Simrad Yachting:Yamaha Command Link Plus Integration

Simrad Yachting announced today an agreement with Yamaha to integrate the Command Link plus interface into Simrad systems. The Yamaha Command Link Plus system allows boaters to monitor the performance of up to four  amaha outboard engines and critical boat systems on the same screen. The integration gives boaters the capability to monitor that data directly from select Simrad displays. “Our agreement with Yamaha creates another valuable integration option for Simrad customers,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. “Adding Command Link Plus functionality to our displays gives users    a powerful tool to maximize the performance of their vessel. Unlockable Feature for Simrad Halo Pulse Compression Radar

Simrad Yachting announced today a new, unlockable add-on feature for Halo Pulse Compression Radar Systems – VelocityTrack. Increasing boater awareness, VelocityTrack provides instant visual feedback on the motion of radar targets in relation to the boat, reducing the risk of a collision. VelocityTrack enables Halo radar to determine whether a target is closing, diverging, or stationary relative to your boat by using the Doppler Effect. VelocityTrack offers an immediate view of all relative target motion, with an option to de-emphasize diverging or retreating targets, making it easier to pick out relevant targets to track and ignore targets that are not a collision risk.

Navico Holding AS, parent company to the Simrad brand and Consilium AB, has acquired Consilium’s radar business. Simrad Launch Entry-level Autopilot

Simrad Yachting introduce its AP60 entry level commerical autopilot complementing their  AP 70 amd AP 80 range. Unlike many other entry-level commercial autopilots, the Simrad AP60 includes thruster integration for improved low speed maneuvering, the manufacturer said, adding, the AP60 is incredibly easy to use giving boaters clear and intuitive menu systems; a large, high contrast monochrome LCD screen for clear display of critical information; a rotary course control wheel; Auto and Standby buttons; and dedicated work modes. The Simrad AP60 has a range of features designed to make piloting commercial vessels more efficient. Two user configurable profiles, WORK and NORMAL, allow custom parameters for specific vessel operations such as trawling or towing.

Navico Reports 2012 Profitability and Market Share

Navico — selling under the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands — announced its operational performance results for the fourth quarter and the year ending December 31, 2012. Revenue in the fourth quarter increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2011, ending the year on the same strong note as earlier quarters in 2012. Overall, the revenues for the year were up 15% to MUSD 256.0 in a flat market. This resulted in Navico increasing its global market share by around 4 percentage points, which further strengthens its position as the undisputed leader in recreational marine electronics. Simrad Yachting Receives NMEA Awards

Simrad Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, autopilot, radar, communications and fishfinding systems, announced that its innovative NSE multifunction display and professional-grade autopilot systems received multiple awards at the 2010 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) convention held in Seattle, Wash. Judged by a panel of experts organized by Boating Writers International (BWI), Simrad NSE with 2.0 software functionality received “Honorable Mention” in the event’s most prestigious category, the “NMEA Technology Award.” Continuing a long-standing tradition as an industry favorite, the Simrad AP24 and AP28 also received top honors for “Best Autopilot” as voted by NMEA members.

Navico Appoints New Regional Sales Managers

Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G brands, announced the hiring of two new Regional Sales Managers, Chris Melena and Russ Stevens. Melena and  Stevens will drive sales and support dealers, distributors and retail customers in the Great Lakes and New England regions, respectively. Each Sales Manager has over a decade of experience in the marine industry and brings a wealth of talent to the Navico sales team. Prior to joining Navico, Melena was a Regional Sales Manager with Raymarine in their Great Lakes territory. He entered the marine industry in 1993 and has held positions at Captain’s Marine Supply and West Marine. Mr. Melena grew up boating on Lake Erie and is an experienced sailor. He is a graduate of Miami University and resides in Catawba Island, Ohio.
