First Metrans Vectron Released

Rail freight operator Metrans received the first Vectron multi-system locomotive at its container terminal in Prague.The vehicle is part of an order of ten multi-system locomotives. They are being manufactured in the Siemens Mobility factory in Munich-Allach and will be delivered in full by spring 2020.Metrans will deploy the new Vectron locomotives in transnational freight traffic across Central and Eastern Europe.“We are very happy to have received the first of ten Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility at our location in Prague.

HHLA Strengthens Intermodal Network

Metrans AS, a subsidiary of terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has ordered ten Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility Czech Republic.The locomotives will be built at Siemens Mobility’s factory in Munich-Allach, and deliveries are scheduled from the end of 2019 until spring 2020. MOL, Total Make Refueling Europe Easier

Tengizchevroil to Double LPG Export through Taman Port in 2018

Tengizchevroil (TCO), Kazakhstan's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) producer and exporter, plans to raise propane and butane export through Russian port Taman in 2018 to 450,000 tonnes from 240,000 tonnes in 2017, traders said. TCO's shipments of LPG through Taman port will grow in March to about 40,000 tonnes from 27,000 tonnes in February, traders said. "TCO's LPG export through Taman port will go up to 40,000 from 20,000 tonnes per month (on average in 2017), with further growth possible," said a source in the port. OTEKO, the owner of Taman transshipment terminal, declined to comment and there was no response from TCO. International oil trader Vitol is responsible for supplying TCO's LPG via Taman terminal.

EFIP Looks for a New Director

The European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP) has announced the beginning of submission of applications for a new director post. The organization said the new EFIP Director will work at the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO)-EFIP Secretariat, which is based in Brussels. EFIP brings together nearly 200 inland ports and port authorities in 17 countries of the European Union and Switzerland. Additionally, EFIP also has observer members in Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine. EFIP highlights and promotes the role of European inland ports to the European institutions.

Strong Growth in Container Traffic between Austria and Hamburg

In 2015 around 295,000 TEU – 20-ft standard containers – were transported between the Port of Hamburg and intermodal terminals in Austria by rail. That represents a 9.3 percent gain, setting a new record for Hamburg’s seaport-hinterland services with Austria. The proportion of containers on this route transported by rail exceeds over 90 percent, making rail the leading mode of transport. “Austria is a model destination in efficient and environmentally friendly hinterland transport via the Port of Hamburg. Russian Minister to Intervene with Gazprom on Slovakia Gas Flow

Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak will intervene with Gazprom to raise reduced gas shipments to Slovakia to contracted levels, Slovakia's economy ministry said on Wednesday after bilateral talks in Moscow. Slovakia says natural gas flows to its national importer SPP have been reduced by up to 50 percent versus requested amounts since September 5, with Gazprom explaining the reduction by the need to fill up its storage. "Russia's energy minister made a public promise to (Slovak) Economy Minister Pavol Pavlis that he will personally intervene with the highest leadership of Gazprom to return supplies of gas for Slovakia to contracted levels because contract conditions need to be fulfilled," the ministry said in a statement.
