First Taiwan-built Offshore Installation Vessel to Sport Wärtsilä Gear

Finland-based marine engine and technology provider Wärtsilä has been tasked to equip the first Taiwan-built offshore wind installation vessel - the Green Jade - with "a broad scope" of its solutions.The 216 meters long vessel will be built at the CSBC shipyard in Taiwan for the joint-venture company CDWE owned by CSBC and Belgium-based DEME Group. The vessel is expected to play a major role in developing the offshore wind farm business in both new and established markets, including Taiwan.

Vantage Drilling Sinks Into the Red

Texas-based offshore drilling contractor Vantage Drilling International reported a net loss of  $52.2 million for the three months ended December 31, 2018 as compared to a net loss of $36.6 million for the three months ended December 31, 2017.For the year ended December 31, 2018, Vantage reported a net loss of $141.5 million or as compared to a net loss of $149.8 million for the year ended December 31, 2017.Vantage, a Cayman Islands exempted company, issued $350 million of new senior secured notes using proceeds to repay its first and second lien debt and to acquire the Soehanah jackup for $85.0, including transaction costs.Ihab Toma, CEO, Said: "We refinanced two tranches of debt thereby extending maturities to 2023.

SMC, Total in New Framework Deal

UK-based provider of consultancy, health & safety advisory, workforce solutions and software services Specialist Marine Consultants (SMC) has won a framework agreement from Total to provide geophysical acquisition supervision.SMC said that the framework contract award from the French oil company would see it support a number of seismic supervision services throughout the three-year contract.“SMC is very pleased to have been awarded a framework agreement which will see it support a number of seismic supervision services throughout the three year contract,” SMC said.This contract award represents yet another significant milestone in the continued growth of SMC and its diversification of services delivered to the seismic exploration sector and the wider energy industry in general…

Hartree Maritime Partners, Hunter Group Create Scrubber-fitted VLCC Pool

Hartree Maritime Partners LLC have appointed Hunter Group ASA as their Senior Technical Advisor.Hunter Group ASA will provide technical newbuild supervision services in respect of Hartree’s four VLCC vessels to be constructed at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, between November 2018 and April 2020.The Senior Technical Advisor will use its best efforts to ensure that the Hartree Vessels and the Hunter Vessels are identical to the maximum extent possible.“Hartree Maritime Partners will be working with Hunter Group ASA in provision of technical newbuild supervision for the construction of the eleven sister DSME VLCC vessels. Wilhelmsen Ship Management Pact with WestEast Marine

Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) has sealed a strategic newbuilding supervision partnership with WestEast Marine Consulting (WEM) to strengthen WSM’s newbuilding supervision offering. Wilhelmsen Ship Management’s experienced newbuilding team will offer newbuilding supervision services to the mass market with reinforced technical expertise from WestEast Marine Consulting, said a press statement. “We are delighted to work with WEM as we look to grow our newbuilding supervision arm and offer a more comprehensive solution to our customers. Schulte Marine Concept Wins First Cruise Ship Newbuild Contract

Schulte Marine Concept (SMC) said it has won its first cruise ship contract with Portugal-based Mystic Cruises. Schulte Marine Concept the project management arm of maritime services company Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), working together with Bernhard Schulte Cruise Services (BS Cruise), will provide technical consultancy and newbuild supervision services to support construction of the oceangoing luxury expedition cruise ship, MS World Explorer. MS World Explorer will be built as a 126-meter long expedition cruise ship with a passenger capacity of 200 and a crew complement of 111.

Deltamarin Wins Contract for Viking Line Newbuild

Deltamarin Ltd said it has signed contracts with Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (XSI) for engineering and construction support services for the Viking Line Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuelled ro-pax vessel newbuilding. The contracts cover basic and detail design as well as comprehensive project management support and supervision services to the shipyard during vessel construction. The new ro-pax vessel for Viking Line will have a passenger capacity of 2,800 people, and the length of its cargo lanes will be 1,500 meters.

Reforma Pemex Now Under BSM Management

Following a two-year period of plan approval and newbuild supervision services provided by Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement’s project focused business, Schulte Marine Concept, BSM's Mexico based Ship Management Centre has commenced management of Reforma Pemex, the first of two offshore ‘flotel’ accommodation vessels owned by Petroleos Mexicanos International (PMI) and chartered to the Mexican National Oil Company Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX). Commencing operations from the beginning of January 2017, Reforma Pemex set sail in late November from the Barrera Shipyard in Vigo, Spain en route to the Gulf of Mexico where she will host up to 700 PEMEX personnel working on offshore platform fields in the Campeche area.

Crowley Puerto Rico Services announced an additional $21 million construction contract for improvements and upgrades at its Isla Grande port terminal in San Juan. BIMCO's "SUPERMAN" Contract for Newbuilding Supervision Services

BIMCO has now launched a new standard contract for ship managers to provide supervision services for shipbuilding and conversion projects. The contract, code named SUPERMAN, is a valuable new addition to BIMCO's existing suite of ship management agreements. Developed by a team of industry experts, SUPERMAN is a comprehensive and clearly worded agreement setting out a ship managers’ duties and obligations when providing ship construction-related supervisory services. Art Anderson Associates Wins 5-year NOAA Deal

Art Anderson Associates informs it has been awarded a five year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for program and project management as well as other services supporting the Marine Engineering Branch for oceanographic and fisheries research ships and small vessels operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office of Marine Operations (OMAO). The agreement will allow NOAA to contract with Art Anderson Associates for integration and project management services including acquisition, program and mission management, technical writing, ship construction supervision services, post shakedown availability support and waterfront production oversight. The award is the second major BPA awarded to Art Anderson Associates this year from NOAA.

New Tug for NY Power Authority

A newly built 45-foot twin-screw tug Daniel Joncaire II has been launched for the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the vessel’s designer Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) announced today. BHGI was awarded a contract by NYPA to engineer, design and perform construction supervision support services for two new tug vessels following its 2009 involvement in the design/build process for NYPA’s new barge, the Havasu II, which led to a study that compared and contrasted the initial and long-term costs to repair and update their existing tugs, or replace them.

D’Appolonia Takes Majority Stake in SeaTech

D’Appolonia, the independent engineering consulting company of RINA Group, headquartered in Italy, announced it has acquired a majority stake in Fano-based SeaTech Srl. According to D’Appolonia, the acquisition aims to strengthen its position in the marine offshore oil and gas sector. SeaTech provides analysis and design services, manages projects for offshore pipelines, subsea systems and structures and met-ocean monitoring systems, and also provides engineering supervision services on site. Founded in 2000, SeaTech has a current turnover of €2.8 million.

GasLog Proft Doubles, But Misses Forecast

Monaco-based liquefied natural gas carrier owner GasLog has reported a sharp increase in profits in 1Q15, saying the sector's medium- to long-term outlook remains encouraging. Group net profits jumped to $13.8 million in 1Q15 from $6.4 million in the same period last year, as revenues rose to $97.3 million from $57 million. “Against a back drop of weak overall energy markets, the first quarter of 2015 saw us take delivery of the Methane Becki Anne and the Methane Julia Louise, bringing our consolidated fleet to 27 vessels,” Paul Wogan, Chief Executive Officer of GasLog said. The company reported $0.13 earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter, missing the consensus estimate of $0.14 by $0.01. During the same quarter in the previous year, the company posted $0.13 earnings per share.

Parsons Wins Dubai Water Canal Project

Engineering, construction, technical, and professional services provider, Parsons, says it has been awarded a contract by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to perform infrastructure design services for the Dubai Water Canal Project. Planned to be a major tourist destination, the Dubai Water Canal will include a new shopping center, hotels, and restaurants, in addition to luxury housing and cycling paths. It is expected to provide new areas for public places and facilities, as well as private marinas for boats and a new trade center at the canal’s entrance. “Parsons has been working with RTA for many years, and we look forward to continuing to be RTA’s partner of choice for this landmark project,” said Hamed Zaghw, President of Parsons International Limited.

SBI Wins Jack-up Design and Engineering Contract

SBI Offshore Limited, which is pursuing higher-value oil and gas engineering projects, said today it has secured a $24 million contract to provide design and engineering services for a jack-up drilling rig that can operate in water depths of up to 110 meters. SGX Catalist-listed SBI Offshore said its wholly owned subsidiary, SBI O&M Pte. Ltd., signed the contract with a Middle East-Chinese Consortium which comprises six parties that have varied interests in oil and gas activities. Under the contract, SBI O&M will provide design, engineering and supervision services for a jack-up drilling rig that will meet requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping Classification A1 for Self- Elevating Drilling Unit.

Teekay LNG Acquires Interests in Four LNG Newbuildings

Teekay LNG Partners L.P. announced that it has acquired from BG Group ownership interests in four 174,000 cubic meter Tri-Fuel Diesel Electric (TFDE) liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier newbuildings, which will be constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in China. The vessels, which are scheduled to deliver between September 2017 and January 2019, will each operate under 20-year time-charter contracts, plus extension options, with Methane Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BG.

Korean Shipyard Delivers Container Ship ‘Hanjin Argentina’

The 3600 TEU container ship, built under the supervision of Navgathi Marine by Hyundai Sambo delivered to Pacific International Lines. Hanjin Argentina is the third of a series of four such vessels ordered by Pacific International Lines of Singapore from the S. Korea shipbuilders. Navgathi Marine is providing the new building supervision services to eight PIL vessels under construction at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard of South Korea and a site team of Navgathi's is there to manage these projects.

Car Carrier Long-term Charters by Höegh Autoliners

Höegh Autoliners enters into 12 year bare boat charters for two 6, 500 car capacity Pure Car Truck Carriers (PCTC) to be delivered by DSME in 2014. The vessels will be owned by Ocean Yield AS and will be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's (DSME) shipyard in Mangalia, Romania. Höegh Autoliners has previously taken delivery of a series of 10 PCTCs from DSME and the two 6 500 car capacity vessels will be built based on the same specifications with relevant updates.

RINA Classes First Offshore LNG FSRU

Genoa-based classification society RINA has taken a lead in the developing market for floating LNG terminals. It has been chosen to class the first offshore Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), and is providing studies and support for a number of further offshore LNG projects, including the newbuilding which is likely to be the world’s second offshore LNG FSRU. Addressing the Mare Forum Houston conference, Massimo Volta, RINA’s General Manager America, said, “Italy leads the world in implementing offshore LNG terminals. We have recently brought the Adriatic LNG terminal on stream, and we have five more live projects for floating and gravity-based offshore LNG terminals around our coasts.
