V.Group Names Traaholt CFO

Ship management and marine services company V.Group announced it has appointed Petter Traaholt as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the V.Group Board.Traaholt joined V.Group from Eltel Group where he was Group CFO, based in Stockholm. Prior to joining Eltel in 2017, he held a number of senior operations and finance roles in Wilhelmsen Holding ASA; initially combining roles as CFO and Deputy CEO of Wilhelmsen Maritime Service, then in 2010 becoming President of Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions.

Merger: Survitec Joins Forces with WMS

Survitec Group announced a transformational deal with the Marine Safety business of Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS (WMS), in which WMS will transfer into Survitec all related safety products and services, including Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions, WSS Technical Services and WSS Safety Products. The combined business will operate under the Survitec Group name. “Upon completion of the merger, WMS will hold a 20 percent stake in Survitec, which will cement the long-term relationship between our two organizations and ensure Wilhelmsen’s continued and significant involvement in the future success of the combined group,” said Dag Schjerven, President and CEO of Wilhelmsen Maritime Services, who will take a position on the Survitec Group Board of Directors.

New Standard for LNG Cargo Containment Systems

Ti Group provided the insulation systems for six Sayaendo-design 150,000 cubic meter capacity LNG carriers under construction at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan for NYK/MOL and K-Line.

Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS) said it has successfully completing the gas trial for the first LNG carrier built to a Boil Off Rate (BOR) of 0.08% per day. WTS subsidiary company Ti Group completed the test on the LNG carrier Seishu Maru, currently under construction at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan for NYK Line. Ti Group was responsible for supplying the cargo tank insulation system on Seishu Maru, one of six LNG carriers to be delivered in this order. The vessel is a next generation Sayaendo design vessel, with a cargo capacity of 150,000 cubic meters.

Green Passenger Ferries from Faaborg Vaerft

The first full-electrical passenger ferry in composite is delivered to Ballerina AB in Stockholm, Sweden. Faaborg Vaerft A/S has delivered the first full-electrical passenger vessel, Sjövägen, built in composite materials to the shipping company Ballerina AB in Stockholm, Sweden. The vessel will operate in the archipelago of Stockholm where it will transport passengers between the different stops silently and environmentally with its correct propulsion. The vessel has sailed from Faaborg to Stockholm on its own keel and by its own power where it will start to operate shortly after arrival.

Wilhelmsen Secures Inert Gas System Orders

Breakthrough order in Japanese shipbuilding market sees largest ever capacity Maritime Protection IG units delivered for leading domestic owners. Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS) has secured multiple orders to supply its Maritime Protection Dry Inert Gas Generator (DIGG) systems for installation on LNG carriers under construction at Japan Marine United’s Tsu shipyard. Successful retrofit to first newbuilding sees Aberdeen-based owner specify further Low Expansion Foam system for second China-built jack-up. Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS) has received a repeat order to install its Unitor Low Expansion Foam fire extinguishing system on a second jack-up newbuilding for Prospector Offshore Drilling. The specialized firefighting systems will provide fire protection for the shale shakers and mud pits on Prospector  1 and Prospector 5 during their charters to Total E&P UK Ltd.

Wilhelmsen Maritime In FSN Private Equity Joint Venture

Wilhelmsen Maritime Services (WMS) says it has signed a letter of intent with the Nordic private equity fund FSN Capital to establish a joint venture within engineered solutions, equipment and services to the maritime and offshore markets currently trading under the business area Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions. The new company, to be owned 50% each by Wilhelmsen Maritime Services (WMS) and FSN Capital, comprises the business within HVAC, insulation, electrical and automation including the brands Callenberg, TI Marine Contracting and newly acquired IES Ltd. The new company, to be established on book value, had an annual revenue of USD 203 million in 2013 and will employ some 1 000 people in 15 countries.

WTS Wins Xflow Watermist Fire Fighting Contracts

Ulsteinvik-based Island Offshore has specified Unitor XFlow for two vessels under construction by Vard at its Brevik facility. The scope of the contract includes supply of a total flooding water mist system for the ship’s engine room and a local protection water mist system. The vessels which are being built to a Rolls-Royce design will be delivered to Island Offshore in 2014 and Q1 2015. Bergen-based GC Reiber will install the XFlow system on a seismic research vessel under construction at Myklebust Verft for delivery in 2015.

China Offshore Inert Gas Orders for Norway's WTS

Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS) say they have secured multiple orders to supply Maritime Protection Inert Gas Generator (IGG) systems for installation on vessels under construction for operations offshore China. The Maritime Protection systems will be installed on three FPSOs for oil major China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). Two identical systems, comprising a deck house module with electric power, fuel and sea water supply/discharge, will be supplied for two FPSOs which will operate in the Bohai oil field in northern China.

Wilhelmsen Lands Orders in Brazil Offshore Sector

Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions has secured multiple orders to supply its Maritime Protection Inert Gas Generator (IGG) systems for installation on vessels working offshore Brazil. The company will deliver a total of eight dual-fuel Maritime Protection systems via contracting partner EEP to Brazil’s national oil company Petrobras for installation onboard a quartet of Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) being converted to Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. The conversion of the VLCC hulls is scheduled take place in the Estaleiro Inhauma drydock where the IGG equipment, capable of operation both on marine diesel oil/gas oil and natural gas, will be installed.

Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS) agree with Italy's Roccheggiani to supply Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems to the offshore market. The HVAC and air handling specialists join forces to offer improved solutions to shipyards for newbuilding and after sales projects. Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions AS (WTS) has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Maritime Protection AS (MP), strengthening the inert gas portfolio for the marine and offshore segments. WTS has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Maritime Protection AS (MP). Subject to certain conditions, the transaction will be closed 25 April 2013. WSS Receives Approvals for Safety Service

Class approvals and new training centres strengthen WSS safety service offering. Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) has received vital approvals for its safety service from two of the world’s Classification Societies: Germanischer Lloyd (GL) and RINA (Royal Institute of Naval Architects). Mats Hestman, WSS International Service Manager Safety said: “WSS is the first maritime safety service provider to receive global GL approval, and we are extremely proud to have been approved by both GL and RINA. Stricter requirements from Class Societies have lead to the need for more audits, so this is a major achievement for us. This also means that we can continue to explore new and exciting possibilities within safety services.
