Deltamarin Signs Design Contract for Meriaura Open Deck Carrier

Deltamarin has signed a basic design contract with Jiangsu Zhenjiang shipyard (Group) CO., LTD for Meriaura’s new open deck carrier.Design work will start immediately at Deltamarin Finland, with delivery scheduled for early 2028. Robert Allan to Design All Electric Tug for Tianjin Port

Robert Allan Ltd. has been awarded a contract to design an AmpRA 3600 tug for Tianjin Port in Northern China.The AmpRA 3600 series tug will be constructed at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd.The order builds on a successful conventional propulsion design for the same owner and shipyard, with two vessels of similar hull form in service.The AmpRA 3600 will have all powering from batteries, with no generator sets onboard, making it a fully battery electric and diesel free ship handling tug.It will be the first Robert Allan Ltd.

Tianjin Port Adds Two New 'Intelligent' Tugs

China's Tianjin Port last month held a naming ceremony for its two latest "intelligent" tugs, Jingang Lun 36 and Jingang Lun 37.The new RAmparts 3500 ASD tugs were designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built by Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard, and their delivery makr sthe culmination of a project initiated between the designer and the port technical department back in 2022.The 34.6-meter-long (LOA) vessels are the second generation of intelligent tugs for the port as part of the ambitious plan to create an intelligent port.

German Government Funds Rotor Sail Install on Baltrader Cement Carrier

The German government is providing funding to support the installation of an auxiliary wind propulsion system on board a cement carrier vessel.Hamburg-based Baltrader Capital GmbH & Co. KG. has signed a contract with wind propulsion systems provider Norsepower for the delivery of one 24m x 4m sized rotor sail in summer 2024. The product will be fitted on the newest cement carrier of the Baltrader fleet, Cemcommander, designed by SDC Ship Design & Consultants GmbH and built by Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd.The Norsepower rotor sail is a modernized version of the Flettner rotor.

Konecranes Wins Chinese Order for Two Barge Cranes

In the first quarter of 2021, Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. ordered two eco-efficient Konecranes Gottwald Model 8 Cranes on Barge. The cranes will be operated by Cosco Shipping Bulk Co. Ltd. (Cosco Bulk) off the coast of Guinea, Africa.Home to the world’s largest reserves of bauxite, the Guinean mining industry has been expanding. Cosco Bulk, a subsidiary of a world-leading shipping company, China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited, found they needed more cranes to cope with the volume.

Jiangsu Zhenjiang Delivers Dual Fuel Tug

Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China has delivered Yong Gang Xiao Tuo 60, a dual fuel RAstar 3800-DF tug, to Ningbo Zhoushan Port Company Ltd.According to a release from the naval architectural firm Robert Allan, this first ever RAstar 3800-DF tug is the 10th custom designed vessel by Robert Allan Ltd. in close collaboration with Ningbo Port Company. The vessel is also the first Robert Allan Ltd. designed dual-fuel tug to operate in China.The new RAstar 3800-DF tug is powered by a pair of Niigata 8L28AHX-DF dual-fuel engines, each rated for 2,389 kW at 800 rpm, and driving Kongsberg US 255 CP 2.8 meter diameter controllable pitch Z-drives. Bollard pull recorded on trials met all expectations and is certified as 80.3 tonnes ahead.

Fred. Olsen Ocean Buys Stake in UWL

Fred. Olsen Ocean (FOO) has entered into an agreement to acquire a 50% ownership in United Wind Logistics GmbH (UWL) through the contribution of new equity in the amount of EUR 12 million.The ownership split in UWL will be FOO 50.0 %, United Shipping Group GmbH 37.5 % and CPLP Holding GmbH 12.5 %, said a press note from the wholly owned by Bonheur ASA.UWL is a Hamburg (Germany) based company offering services within marine transportation of various offshore wind turbine components, such as blades, nacelles and towers from nearby manufacturing sites to pre-assembly ports closer to offshore wind farm sites.The operations of UWL are presently performed with chartered tonnage.

United Wind Logistics Picks MAN GenSets for Newbuilding

Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard Group Co,.Ltd has ordered 2 × MAN 9L 21/31 + 2 × MAN 6L16/24 GenSets in connection with the construction of an modern deck carrier. First Steel Cut for Tianjin Port’s New Smart Tugs

A pair of steel-cutting ceremonies held a week apart at separate Chinese shipyards initiated the construction of new workboats for Tianjin Port.Following the successful completion in 2015 of concurrent construction programs involving five vessels of three different designs, Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd. said it began developing two more designs, working closely with the towing branch of Tianjin Port.On August 23, the steel-cutting ceremony for the first of two ASD 40/35 pilot/tugboats was held at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China.

The Cao Gang 26 is a new RAmparts 3300 ASD tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd., constructed at JiangSu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd. in China and delivered to the Owner, Cao Fei Dian Port in Northern China in November 2016. On trials, the vessel met or exceeded all performance expectations, producing bollard pull astern of 60.5 metric tons and a free running speed ahead of 13.5 knots. The vessel has been outfitted to the highest standards for a maximum crew complement of 14, the designer said.

Robert Allan Designed RAmparts 3300 ASD Tug for China

The Cao Gang 26 is a new RAmparts 3300 ASD tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd., constructed at JiangSu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd. in China and delivered to the Owner, Cao Fei Dian Port in Northern China in November 2016. The vessel has been outfitted to the highest standards for a maximum crew complement of 14. The Master’s and Chief Engineer’s cabins are located on the main deck, and two six-person cabins are located on the lower accommodation deck. Also included are common W/C’s on the main and lower accommodation decks. The deck machinery consists of a ship assist hawser winch and a pair of independent anchor windlasses on the bow.

Chinese yards to Deliver RAmparts Tugs

Robert Allan Ltd. has been hard at work in the Chinese market for the last few years, not only for various shipyard clients, but also for local owners. In addition to major international ports in China such as the Ports of Ningbo, Tianjin, Shanghai and Shenzhen, recent progress has been made on a regional level at the deep-water Port of Cao Fei Dian in northern China’s Bohai Bay in Hebei Province. Cao Fei Dian Port, with an annual cargo capacity over 100 million tonnes, will soon take delivery of its first Robert Allan Ltd. tug from Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group): a customized RAmparts 3300 Class design. Zhenjiang Shipyard, headquartered in Jiangsu Province, has now built 10 tugs of this Class. Six RAmparts 3200WASD tugs are presently under construction at Sanlin Shipyard in Shanghai.

CNOOC Acquires Asia's 1st LNG Powered Tug

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has taken delivery of Asia’s first tugboat Hai Yang Shi You 525, designed to operate solely on liquefied natural gas as ship’s fuel. Hai Yang Shi You 525, the first of two tugs built by the Zhenjiang shipyard for CNOOC, features a propulsion package based on twin Rolls-Royce Bergen C26:33L9PG engines and a pair of highly reliable Rolls-Royce US 205 CP azimuth thrusters to ensure the tugs have rapid manoeuvring and strong bollard pull capabilities. AVIC buys 60% in ship investment firm

AVIC International Maritime Holdings is in the process of acquiring 60 per cent in a Singapore-incorporated ship investment firm for $3.6 million. The Singapore-listed firm, as per a regulatory filing, will acquire three million issued and paid-up shares, in AVIC Zhenjiang Shipyard Marine Pte. Ltd (AZM) that is 60 per cent owned by Catico Investments and 40% by Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group). Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard will continue to own 40 per cent of AVIC Zhenjiang, which generated RMB88.7 million in revenue and earned RMB10.9 million in 2014. AZM is in the business and trade of acquiring, owning, selling, brokering and chartering of various types of vessels, including but not limited to tugboats and offshore vessels. It invests in vessels by taking up equity stakes.

Pair of ASD Tugboats Delivered to Keppel-Smit

The ASD tugs KST Passion and KST Pride were were delivered to their owner, Keppel-Smit Towage Pte. Ltd of Singapore in October 2014. The two vessels are the first in the new RAmparts 3300AV series of tug designs by Robert Allan Ltd., and were constructed at the AVIC Zhenjiang Shipyard Marine Pte Ltd., Singapore at its facilities in China. On trials, both vessels met or exceeded all performance expectations, with KST Pride producing an average ahead bollard pull of 71.5 tons and achieving a maximum speed of 14.03 knots.
