ABS Nautical Systems has installed its entire suite of leading fleet management software at the Maine Maritime Academy. The software will be installed aboard the training ship "T/V State of Maine" as well as used by the Academy to manage its various other waterfront assets. The powerful suite of integrated modules includes: Maintenance and Repair, Purchasing and Inventory Control, Financial Reporting, Crew Management, Crew Payroll, ISM/STCW Compliance, Document Management, Vessel Drawings and Hull Maintenance. According to ABS Nautical Systems America's Regional Business Development Manager Joe Woods, the software will enable students to familiarize themselves with the latest IT tools installed with various operators around the world. "Getting this into the hands of students gives them a head start and competitive edge in the marketplace when looking for a job," says Woods. "Plus it advances the professionalism of managing many key aspects in the maritime industry." According to Maine Maritime Academy President Leonard H. Tyler, the relationship with ABS Nautical Systems provides immeasurable value. "This is not something we could have done on our own or that would have ever been achieved this quickly. We are fortunate to have friends at ABS Nautical Systems whose contributions have been of such great value to us as an academic institution." "This is a continuation of ABS Nautical Systems' longstanding commitment to advancing IT knowledge," said company president, Jack Kitchura. Last year ABS NS provided assistance to the MITAGS Training Facility by offering software support.
