Northrop Grumman Appoints Chanik
Northrop Grumman has appointed Evan 'Marty' Chanik to vice president of business development for its shipbuilding sector.
In his new role, Chanik will be responsible for all marketing, customer and government relations initiatives, reporting to Mike Petters, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's Shipbuilding. Chanik assumes his position from John Mazach, who is retiring.
Chanik served in the U.S. Navy for 35 years, achieving the rank of vice admiral. His most recent position was commander of the second fleet, and director of combined joint operations from the Sea Center of Excellence. He also served as commanding officer aboard the Northrop Grumman-built aircraft carrier USS Enterprise among many other fleet positions. Chanik earned a bachelor's degree in operations analysis from the United States Naval Academy in 1973 and was designated as a naval aviator in 1974.
Mazach will retire after nine years of service to Northrop Grumman. Mazach is a retired naval officer who served 32 years in the U.S. Navy and retired at the rank of vice admiral. During his tenure with Northrop Grumman, he has served as the principal representative to Navy leadership on shipbuilding.
