Cargo Operations Ongoing, Terminal Operators Adjust Schedules Due To Winter Weather. Non-Essential Employees Must Not Report To Work Jan. 29.

Freezing temperatures and a wintry mix of precipitation forced adjustments to operations schedules at the Port of New Orleans yesterday and today (Jan. 29). While ship cargo operations were ongoing today at Port terminals, all gatehouse operations for truck transport were suspended due to bridge and interstate closures in south Louisiana. All non-essential employees will also be asked not to report to work again Wednesday, Jan. 29, due to hazardous conditions on area roadways.

Port operations crews continue to work alongside terminal operators and Longshoremen to keep cargo ship operations on schedule. Both break-bulk and container ships are scheduled to work tomorrow. “As always we are erring on the side of safety in an attempt not to compromise the movement of cargo and commerce through the Port,” said Port President and CEO Gary LaGrange. Port employees are asked to monitor the employee hotline for updated information on work schedules at (504) 528-3388 or (866) 476-7866.
