Partnership Eyes Reduced CO2 Emissions

 

Logistics company Greencarrier Freight Service and shipping company CMA-CGM Scandinavia have initiated a long-term collaboration project to cut joint CO2 emissions by 30 percent by 2020.

 

The partners aim to achieve this goal through the development of new and sustainable logistics solutions that will also be made available on the market. One example is a joint solution involving sea transport to Gothenburg and further transport to Torsvik, where trucks have now been replaced by rail transport. This change has resulted in a 70 persent reduction in CO2 emissions.

 

On an annual basis, at least two new sustainable logistics solutions will be developed to replace traditional solutions and reduce environmental impact. Additionally, mutual development involving environmental issues will take place via joint skill sharing.

 

Peter Nevhagen, CEO of Greencarrier Freight Services International, said, “Greencarrier and CMA-CGM Scandinavia have been working with sustainability questions for many years, and it was thus simple and natural for us to begin collaborating. We also have well-defined long-term climate objectives and this makes it easier to develop good solutions that can be offered directly to the market. Working with skill sharing will also enable both organizations to develop still further.”

 

CMA-CGM Scandinavia will utilize parts of the Greencarriers Green Evaluation (GGE), a tool used to classify partners in sustainability and increase collaboration with the most sustainable partners, as well as Greenoffice concepts used to increase sustainability at the office level.
