APM Terminals Pipavav Reaches Out to the Physically Challenged

 APM Terminals Pipavav one of Western India’s gateway ports, in association with Shri Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Ahmedabad; SBI Mutual Fund and Shri Somnath Trust successfully organized a camp for the physically challenged individuals of Amreli of Rajula, Jaffrabad, Khamba, Savarkundla and Mahua villages. 

The camp was inaugurated by Mrs. Heenaben Shah, Director, APM Terminals Pipavav, Mr. P.K. Lehri, Director, APM Terminals Pipavav and  Mr. Lalitbhai Jain, Chairmen BVMSS. APM Terminals Pipavav employees volunteered to run a help desk at the camp site to guide the villagers and also helped the doctors and nurses throughout the program.
 
The patients were examined by able doctors and equipments like wheelchair, tricycle, calipers for polio patients, crutches (bagal ghodi), limbs (Jaipur foot) and hearing aids were distributed to the patients based on their requirements. The material required for these equipments were ordered from Jaipur and were altered as per the patient’s requirement.
 
Around 1048 individuals were benefitted by this initiative. Mr. Trivedi, District Social Welfare Officer – Amreli appreciated APM Terminals Pipavav’s contribution for this noble cause. The camp was a great success due to the dedicated efforts of the organizing team comprising doctors, pharmacists, equipment technician, operators, nursing staff and APM Terminals Pipavav employees.
 
The objective of organizing the camp for physically challenged individuals was to make them independent, build their self-confidence, and motivate them to lead a normal life and to be at par with others in the society. This initiative is a part of APM Terminals Pipavav’s commitment towards society and the mission of “Uplifting communities around us”.
