German heavy lift firm SAL offloads 800 mt subsea cable reels from 'MV Lone'  to offshore vessel with hold clearance just 12 mm.

SAL reports that their MV Lone loaded two reels, each of 800 mtons and a diameter of 28.5 m, in Pori, Finland. for delivery to Florø, Norway.

In Florø the precious cargo was installed directly onto the pipelay vessel MV “Deep Energy” where a certain amount of sensitiveness was demanded of the Lone's crane operator in order to unload the reels into a cargo hold with only 12 mm clearance between cargo and hold. In the end, both reels were perfectly positioned.

Due to the extreme height of the reels, the crane went to its limit of outreach and lifting height. SAL’s engineers as well as the crew successfully performed an exacting service for this customer.
