Sinopacific Shipbuilding & Corporate Social Responsibility

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

February 28, 2011

Sinopacific said it believes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means clinging to the business ethics which includes clinging to lawful business operation, advocating product safety, environmental protection, protection of employee benefits, integrity and responsibility to all stakeholders and etc. The enterprise provides more tax revenue and employment opportunities through legitimate business activities, which fully embodies the CSR, and thus to maximize the desire to contribute to the community. Sinopacific said it will do philanthropy activities while clinging to CSR and make philanthropy activities a kind of business, which provides a driving force for long-term sustainable development of enterprises, as well as promoting the enterprise development to a new level.

Sinopacific's approach to philanthropy has always been focused on the operation value of the enterprise. In other words, “Our philanthropy projects are targeted at groups we are familiar with and the communities we live in. This not only ensures that the projects help people in need, but also allows us to provide strong supervision. As the old Chinese saying goes, “to use the best steel on the sword’s cutting edge” said Lin Bo, Executive Manager of Sinopacific. For example, migrant workers are the main workforce in the shipbuilding sector. Before the Chinese New Year, Dayang Shipbuilding, an affiliated shipyard of Sinopacific, gave out red envelopes to a dozen of migrant workers to support their trips home for family reunion through the Dayang Migrant Workers Caring Fund. After the Festival, they had come back to work with full of spirit, being active to start work. With migrant workers' needs in mind, this practical philanthropy event achieved mutual benefit for the enterprise and workers.

In 2010, Sinopacific established a specialized fellowship in Harbin Engineering University designed to encourage students majoring in ship related specialties to join the promising shipbuilding sector. With the excellent graduates majoring in shipbuilding, this well-known college represents the future of China’s shipbuilding sector. This fellowship represents Sinopacific's commitment to training specialized talents and actively promoting sustainable corporate development. In addition, the establishment of Fenghua Education Fund and Sinopacific Shipbuilding Technical School announced Sinopacific’s philanthropy philosophy from different aspects: provide what we do best to people we know.
