Rolls-Royce New Facilities in N. America

Rolls-Royce has opened two new marine service centers in Galveston, Texas and Seattle, Washington. Rolls-Royce’s global marine services network is dedicated to helping customers maximize the operational capability of their vessels and manage their costs most effectively. Headquartered in Singapore, the network now includes facilities in 32 countries and employs more than 1,000 support staff, engineers and technicians around the world.

Encompassing 40,000 square feet, the new Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine service center at Galveston will provide state-of-the-art repair and overhaul expertise in support of the company’s entire portfolio of marine products to customers throughout the Gulf of Mexico region.

The decision to invest in the new Seattle service center was in response to increased customer demand and to be nearer the city’s many marine customers. It is nearly four times larger than the previous Rolls-Royce facility it replaces and is located at Todd Shipyard, one of the largest shipyards on the west coast and a hub for cruise ships, container vessels and factory trawlers.

Local government and business leaders joined Rolls-Royce President of Marine John Paterson, as well as other senior executives from Rolls-Royce, at ceremonies to open both facilities.

In 2007, Rolls-Royce opened a facility at Miramar, Florida for the cruise and yacht industry, and later this year will begin operations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, serving customers in the South American market. In addition, the Group opened a new operation in Mumbai, India in 2008 and has recently expanded facilities in Singapore, Rotterdam, Holland, and Ulsteinvik, Norway.
