The Navy League's 2008 Sea-Air-Space Exposition, appropriately themed "Global Maritime Security," will be held at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel in , March 18-20.

The goal of the exposition is to provide up-to-the-minute developments on policy and programs of the maritime services, with speakers that include Secretary of Defense the Honorable Dr. Robert M. Gates, Secretary of the Navy the Honorable Dr. Donald C. Winter and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead.

The expo will also showcase national and international maritime exhibits of the latest in sea power technology.

"I think this is one opportunity we have where we're really able to engage between those people that are in the Navy right now and the industrial base that supports," said Winter. "I think it is a great opportunity for all the Navy family."

The theme of this year's exposition will augment the new national maritime strategy, "A Cooperative Strategy for the 21st Century Seapower," by advancing not only the public knowledge but also informing service members of the critical importance of sea power for 's security and prosperity.

Navy League National President, J. Michael McGrath said the issues presented and discussed at the Sea-Air-Space Exposition will have an impact on every Sailor and Marine.

"Sea-Air-Space Exposition is the premier and largest maritime industry forum where the top level military decision makers and our civilian maritime industry partners address key issues that ultimately affect every Sailor and Marine," said McGrath. "Additionally, it showcases present and future maritime enabling technologies that are intended to enhance and advance the war fighting capabilities of our men and women of the Navy, Marine Corps, as well as the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine."

The exposition is open to all military (active duty, reserve and retirees), government employees, members of congress and their staffs, representatives of foreign embassies and Navy League members. It is not open to the public.

The Navy League has hosted the Sea-Air-Space Exposition for over 40 years, and the revenue generated through the expo helps fund Navy League's multiple programs that support the sea services, such as education efforts, award and recognition programs.
