ALP Tugs Get Rolls-Royce Deck Equipment

Rolls-Royce has been awarded a £19m contract to deliver deck machinery for four ocean going tugs, designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions, for Dutch company ALP Maritime Services. The vessels will be constructed in Japan by Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair. The vessels are being developed for towing large structures like oil rigs and floating production units over long distances. The bollard pull for each of the four vessels will be 300 tons and they will be equipped for anchor handling.
Rolls-Royce Engines, Equipment for Bourbon

Rolls-Royce is to deliver deck machinery and engines to an arctic Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel (AHTS) to be built by Vard for Bourbon Offshore Norway. The contract has a value in excess of £17 million for Rolls-Royce. The deck machinery delivery from Rolls-Royce will consist of anchor handling winches, secondary winches, auxiliary winches, anchor handling cranes and a wide range of safer deck operation equipment.

Designers, Robert Allan, inform that Leevac Shipyards has completed the construction of the second of their Z-Tech designed 2400 tugs. The latest, 'Zeus', has been delivered to its owners Suderman & Young Towing Company of Houston, Texas following the earlier delivery of her sister 'Chloe K' to her owners: Bay-Houston Towing Co. of Houston, Texas. Rolls-Royce Develops OSV for Island Offshore

Rolls-Royce has won an order to provide integrated design and ship equipment for a highly innovative offshore vessel for Norwegian ship owner Island Offshore. The new striking UT 777 design has been developed in close cooperation with Island Offshore, to be used in offshore drilling operations during harsh weather conditions. The vessel (MOU) will be built in Japan by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and is scheduled for delivery in 2017. The contract is worth around £25 million to Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce has a won a contract to design and equip a new offshore support vessel (OSV) for Island Offshore, to be built by shipbuilding group Vard. The platform support vessel (PSV) is a Rolls-Royce design of type UT 776 CD, the second of this type ordered by Island Offshore this year. The UT 776 CD is an Offshore Service Vessel for worldwide service, with tanks for all types of liquid cargo, 1,000m2 cargo deck and accommodation for over 40 people in single cabins.

RAmparts Tugs Delivered in China

The first of a new series of the RAmparts 3500 Class ASD tug design was delivered to its Owners Tianjin Port, a port in the northern part of China. The vessel was constructed at Shanghai Harbor Fuxing Shipping Service Company, and was named Jin Gang Lun 26.A sister vessel is under construction at the same shipyard. The hull of the new 35 meter design has been developed from the very successful 32 meter Ramparts design series, of which more than 100 tugs have been built in the past decade.

Shipyard Vard Brevik awarded Norwegian marine drive specialist Kumera AS a contract to deliver its Norgear advanced Multi Step Hybrid Gear for a newbuild Anchor Handling Tug (AHT). The sophisticated new AHT is designed with a green focus and will harness the latest fuel saving solutions to minimize environmental impact and optimize operations. The vessel is contracted by renowned Norwegian tug boat company Buksér og Berging AS and will be delivered in Q1 2015.
Cargotec Buys Aker Mooring and Loading Systems Business

Aker Solutions today agreed to sell its mooring and loading systems business to Cargotec for an enterprise value of NOK 1.4 billion, or about €180 million. The unit, known for the Pusnes brand name, provides mooring equipment, loading and offloading systems, as well as deck machinery for the global offshore and shipping markets. Aker Solutions will book a gain of about NOK 1 billion from the sale.
