Classification society ClassNK announced that it will participate in a joint project together with Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and MES Technoservice Co., Ltd. Raytheon Anschütz Makes Landmark Delivery
Raytheon Anschütz, a German-based navigation system supplier, delivers its 15,000th Standard 22 Gyro Compass in June 2014. Onboard the superyacht Esmeralda the jubilee compass will replace an old Anschütz Standard 4 Gyro Compass which has been in operation for more than 30 years. The new generation of the Anschütz Gyro Compass – Standard 22 – was presented 10 years ago at SMM in Hamburg. Today, approximately 1,800 Standard 22 compasses are sold per year.
Norway's Kvitsøy VTS Center Goes Live
The first of five Norwegian regional VTS Centers to be upgraded under the February 2013 VTS Framework contract between the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) and Kongsberg Norcontrol IT (KNC) has been completed. The NCA, Western Coastal Administration (KYV-V) officially celebrated the opening of the modernized Kvitsøy Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Center, which was renovated as part of the 36 million NOK (4.4 mil euros) national VTS upgrade project, on June 11, 2014.
Compact Dredge Monitoring System Released
CT Systems officially released what it is calling the world’s first all in one dredging computer, GeoDredge. GeoDredge houses all necessary components in a single housing. GeoDredge acts as a hardware platform for the Viking software. CT Systems said its goal is for any operator to be able to operate the system without any prior extensive training. With the advent of GeoDredge, it is no longer necessary to install separate components.
