Thoma-Sea Launches US-flagged OSV
Technology Associates, Inc. (TAI) of New Orleans, La., announced that another derivative of a vessel built from TAIâs EnviroMax designs was launched. Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors, LLC has launched a 6,300 DWT Technology EnviroMax 310 OSV from its Lockport, La. shipyard on April 28. The owner of this vessel is a major oil and gas support vessel company. The EnviroMax 310 vessel is U.S. flagged and will serve worldwide markets.
ABSâ Wiernicki Addresses Maine Maritime Academy Graduates
Christopher J. Wiernicki, chairman, president and CEO of ABS, addressed graduating students, their families and faculty members at Maine Maritime Academy's (MMA) Commencement on May 2. Classification society American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) hosted its Annual Meeting in New York on April 28, 2015. â2014 was a year of firsts and excellence in performance for ABS,â said Christopher J. Wiernicki, ABS chairman, president and CEO. In 2014, the ABS-classed fleet grew by more than 7 percent year-on-year to 221 million gross tons (gt). ABS captured more than 31 percent of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier orderbook and 23 percent of the very large LPG carriers on order.

Moran Iron Works Builds Two Barges for Durocher
Moran Iron Works (MIW) launched two ocean going deck barges last week for Durocher Marine, a division of Kokosing Construction Company Inc. The two deck barges are 180' X 54' X 12' and built in accordance with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and classifications. Sludge Management System
Scienco/FAST has introduced a new way to deal with sludge with its standard MarineFAST Marine Sanitation Device, which meets MEPC.159(55) or providing secondary treatment, incorporating about one month of internal sludge storage or three months with larger systems. For vessels requiring a longer period, the MarineFAST BMS provides an aerobic sludge digester with long term internal storage to extend the sludge storage.
BHGI-designed ATB Unit Under Construction
Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) informs it is currently completing the detail design phase of a 399â x 74â x 30â 80,000 BBL double hull oil tank barge and a 120â x 40â x 18â- 6â twin screw ocean service tug. Both vessels are currently being built under ABS survey at Conrad Shipyard, L.L.C. in Amelia, La. with a 2015/2016 delivery date.
