Scrubbers Installed on Newbuild Gas Carrier
The ECO VLGC Corvette, delivered from Hyundai Heavy Industries on January 2, 2015, is fitted with a Class and Flag State approved exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) provided by Clean Marine. The measurements of exhaust gas emission and washwater criteria are well below the required limits stated in the MEPC guideline 184(59). This ensures vessel compliancy with the 0.1% sulphur limit in ECAs, which has been in place from January 1 this year. The vessel is also compliant with the stricter U.S.

The Ocean Class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research (AGOR) vessel hull number 27 started its official life as the R/V Neil Armstrong, the first research vessel named after a space explorer. PIRIOU Delivers 53-meter FSIV
French boat builder PIRIOU has delivered the 11th of its 53- by 10-meter Fast Supply and Intervention Vessels (FSIV) to Suisse Outremer AG, to be operated by ABC Maritime AG. Built at the PIRIOU yard in Vietnam, the Karol W was turned over to the owners in October 2014. She is a sister ship to the FSIV Kacey delivered from the yard in May of 2014. The Kacey was on charter in Venezuela by September of this year.

NASSCO Licenses LNG Containment Tech to Braemar
General Dynamics NASSCO and Braemar LNG BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Braemar Shipping Services PLC, have signed a technology licensing agreement for Braemar to use NASSCO’s intellectual property in its design and construction of Flat-Panel, Semi-Membrane, Prismatic-Shaped (FSP) LNG containment systems. FSP is a new multipurpose Type B flat-panel, semi-membrane, prismatic-shaped LNG tank-containment system which uses flat plate technology and a universal joint configuration.
Cummins QSK60s for 84-Meter Work Boat
Shin Yang Shipyard of Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia has delivered the sister ships MV Anis and MV Alya. Designed by Wartsila Ship Design Singapore, the 83.8-meter (275-foot) maintenance and workboats have massive capacities. Accommodation is provided for up to 199 people. Tankage is provided for 800 cubic meters of fuel and 900 m3 of water. The vessels each have two 50 m3 per day water-makers. Additionally there is tankage for 80 m3 of urea, 20 m3 of sludge, and 10 m3 of lube oil.

ABS has published the ABS Guide for LNG Fuel Ready Vessels to support members and clients in preparing newbuildings for future conversion to gas propulsion. High Tech Towboat: LNG-Powered Design Gets ABS Approval in Principle
Conrad Shipyard and The Shearer Group, Inc. (TSGI) said that its design of a 4,200 horsepower LNG-powered towboat received “Approval in Principle” (AIP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The boat is based on TSGI’s azimuth drive (Z-drive) towboat design that debuted in 2008 as the FRANK T. STEGBAUER. To date, eight of these towboats have been built for Southern Towing Company, which is a pioneer in the use of z-drives for brown water operations.
