ABS Wins Petronas FLNG Classification Contract

ABS hosted its Annual Meeting in New York on April 29, 2014. ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. In 2013 the ABS-classed fleet expanded to 205.6 million gross tons (gt), a growth rate of more than 6 percent year-on-year. ABS became only the second classification society to surpass the 200 million gt mark. ABS also maintained a leading position in the global orderbook closing out the year with 38.8 million gt contracted to class with ABS, 22 percent of all vessels on order.

Marcon International, Inc. of Coupeville, Washington says that Pacific Coast Maritime, Inc., Seattle, Washington, a subsidiary of Harley Marine Services, Seattle, has concluded the sale of its 240’ ABS ocean deck barge “HML 240-2” (ex-Aqua 242, MK-242, Foss 242) to Island Tug & Barge Co. also of Seattle. ABS Approves Design for GTTNA’s LNG Bunker Barge
GTT North America (GTTNA), the Houston-based subsidiary of French engineering and technology company Gaztransport & Technigaz SA (GTT), received approval in principle from ABS for the design of a 2,200 cu.m. liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge. The design incorporates GTT’s membrane Cargo Containment System (CCS), which is used in 70% of the global LNG carrier fleet and nearly 90% of LNG carrier projects on order.

Time Charter of DP-1 Research Vessel Fixed
Marcon International, Inc. of Coupeville, Washington reported that Stabbert Maritime of Seattle has time chartered the U.S. flag, DP-1, research vessel Ocean Pioneer (ex: Seabulk Montana, Montana, Seabulk Montana, Indian Seal) to FMC Technology of Davis, California. The 205' x 40' x 17' depth vessel was built in 1974 by Burton Shipyard in Port Arthur, Texas for Seal Fleet of Galveston, Texas and acquired by Hvide Marine, Inc. in 1996, along with seven other offshore supply boats.
