Two Workers Killed in Shipbuilding Blast

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

January 3, 2014

Multiple sources reported that a natural gas explosion at Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co. Ltd.'s shipbuilding facility in Chongming County left two workers dead and another two in critical condition Monday morning.

According to the Shanghai Administration of Work Safety, the blast was likely caused by a gas leak that occurred while workers were performing cutting operations during the construction of a ship.

A deeper investigation into the cause of the accident is being conducted.

Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
