ShipConstructor User Expands Business

ShipConstructor Software Inc. client, Navtech Canada Inc., is enjoying a twenty-five per cent rise in revenues. Navtech is a naval architecture firm situated in the heart of old Quebec City at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. The scope of their service includes naval architecture, marine engineering, brokerage and maritime surveys.

Their latest project is a ferry consisting of 5,000 parts, all of which were designed in ShipConstructor, did not require any adjustments and fit perfectly, thus enabling the shop floor to reduce waste. Barbeau explains that by using ShipConstructor, Navtech can go into deeper detail with designs, an attribute reflected by the ease of construction and the high quality of the finished product. Although more time is spent in the modeling and engineering, there is less time required for construction, because ShipConstructor allows Navtech to have a closer relationship with the client and the shipyard resulting in smooth integration of components and considerable savings. The ferry is near completion, scheduled to be launched in May and will service the Magellan Islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

The Navtech team members convinced their parent company Navware Canada Inc. to become an accredited trainer for ShipConstructor covering East Canada, Northeast USA and the Caribbeans where Navware Canada Inc. offers procurement services to ship owners and shipyards.
