Hong Kong based SpecTec Asia Pacific East Ltd has entered into an agreement to supply SpecTec AMOS software and related services to Kuang Ming Shipping Corp. head office and its 14 bulk cargo ships.

Kuang Ming Shipping Corp. was established in May 1990 in Taiwan. In the beginning, the Company acted as the booking agent to handle the import and export of container shipments for Yang Ming Line in Taiwan. In November 1999, the Company bought two container ships to launch the Intra-Asia liner service. In view of the rapid growth of the global bulk business in recent years, the Company decided to shift its liner service to dry bulk service in October 2008. Since, the Company has built up its business philosophy as "Integrity, Quality, Safety and Growth".

Kuang Ming currently operates in dry bulk cargo service worldwide with its 14 bulk fleet. It is scheduled to have a bulk fleet of more than 20 vessels by 2013 and become a competitive operator of Panamax bulk fleet. The main business of the company are to time charter-in and/or time charter-out their ship from/to the ship owners/charterers with good reputation, and also secure the voyage contract to carry the coal, grain, iron ore…etc. for the electricity power company, grain houses and steel mills in the world.

Kuang Ming has been suing the full AMOS Suite on the KM Hong Kong vessel (IMO 9461099) and KM Sydney vessel (IMO 9452478) since 2010. With the last signed contract, the Company head office will be fitted with an AMOS Maintenance and Purchase module. The system will provide the automated monitoring and control of the fleet maintenance works and costs, stock control and purchasing as well as the saving and the analysis of the costs to evaluate and improve preventive maintenance program. Ships’ data will be transferred automatically between head office and vessels, providing real-time updates.

SpecTec Hong Kong Managing Director Mr. Ben Fan states “SpecTec is honored and proud to have been chosen to facilitate Kuang Ming Shipping Corp.  We are aware that the Customer has a choice of who they select as their Partner/Vendor, and SpecTec’s local support and over 26 years of experience has placed it at the forefront of the selection criteria, and we are very pleased to have been selected”.
