Terresolve’s EnviroLogic 3068 Wins Blohm + Voss Approval
Terresolve Technologies announced the company’s readily biodegradable hydraulic fluid, EnviroLogic 3068, has passed the stringent requirements of the Blohm + Voss Industries’ Stabilizer Group and won approval from the German shipping manufacturer. After significant testing, both dry and with 5% water added, Blohm + Voss reported Terresolve’s non-toxic high-performance product has met the requirements for its Simplex-Compact S-type, Z-type and F-type stabilizers. These three stabilizer types cover the vast majority of marine applications performing at zero, slow and high speeds. “I’m very pleased with this result,” said Mark Miller, CEO of Terresolve Technologies. “While Terresolve products have shown excellent performance in the maritime industry for many years, we are thrilled to secure this approval from a major manufacturer.”
Under the “Simplex-Compact” trademark, Blohm + Voss has manufactured fin stabilizers for ships around the world since 1961. Today, more than 550 ships are using the companies’ retractable and non-retractable fin stabilizers. Terresolve has serviced Blohm + Voss clients since the company’s products were approved for use in Blohm + Voss stern tubes in 2007. “Terresolve has serviced cruise ships, blue water transit ships and various oil services vessels as well as many ships working within the offshore drilling industry with very similar applications,” said Miller. “These industries are very important to Terresolve and therefore approvals like this recognition from Blohm + Voss are very important.”
Unlike other biodegradable oils and fluids, Terresolve products are extremely durable and can withstand contamination from water and petroleum. In the event of a spill, EnviroLogic 3068 will quickly biodegrade and does not leave a “rainbow” or metallic sheen on the water, increase reflectivity or leave behind an oil slick. Within 28 days, the readily biodegradable fluid will break down into the safe, natural components of carbon dioxide and water.
