Waterways Councinl Names New Officers, Directors

At its Annual Meeting held October 1 in Houston, the Board of Directors of Waterways Council, Inc. (WCI) elected the following officers and Executive Committee members for 2007-2008: Dan Mecklenborg, Senior Vice President, HR & Chief Legal Officer, Ingram Barge Company, Chairman; R. Barry Palmer, WCI, President and CEO; Steve Little, President and CEO, Crounse Corporation, General Counsel; Peter Stephaich, Chairman, Campbell Transportation Co., Secretary; Cherrie Felder, Vice President, Channel Shipyard, Treasurer.

H. Merritt Lane III, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canal Barge Company; Peter Lilly, Chief Operating Officer--Coal, CONSOL Energy Inc., and Rick Calhoun, President, Cargo Carriers, were named as Vice-Chairmen. Berdon Lawrence, Chairman, Kirby Corporation; Jim Adams, Vice President, Government Affairs, American Commercial Barge Lines; Rodney Weinzierl, Executive Director, Illinois Corn Marketing Board and Illinois Corn Growers Association; and Mark Knoy, President, AEP MEMCO LLC, and immediate Past Chairman, were named as additional Executive Committee Members.

The WCI membership has also elected new directors: Pete Lilly, CONSOL Energy, Inc., and Bruce McGuiness, McGuinness, Inc. (Ohio Valley Region Category); Larry Daily, Alter Barge Line (Mississippi Region Category); Berdon Lawrence, Kirby Corporation (Southern Region Category); Jim Bareksten, CHS, Inc.; Peter Evans, Marathon Petroleum Company; and Ken Applegate, Valero Energy (Shipper Category); H. Merritt Lane, Canal Barge Company (Carrier Category); Paul Mauer, Trinity Industries (Waterway Services Category) and Jim McCarville, Port of Pittsburgh Commission (Association/Government Category). Charlie Jones, Amherst Industries; Dan Mecklenborg, Ingram Barge Company; and, Jim Adams, American Commercial Barge Lines, were elected to the At-Large Category.
