CMA CGM MANET in Sydney with Select Burgundy Wines Cargo
CMA CGM Group is pleased to announce that the CMA CGM MANET will arrive in Sydney International Container Terminals in Australia on July, 22nd. The bottles of Burgundy Wine will then have completed the first part of their trip around the world, that began on June, 14th.
On board the container a precious selection of some of Burgundy most exceptional wines selected by the “Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin” - a guild celebrating its 80 anniversary this year - will be received by the Australian equivalent Order. The container will be reloaded back on the CMA CGM AZURE and sent back to France from Sydney on July, 28th.
To celebrate the 80-years anniversary of the “Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin”, members of the Council of the Confrérie are being supported by JF Hillebrand, a global logistics leader in wines and spirits, and CMA CGM - the third largest group of container shipping in the world – during a journey to meet the members of the Confrérie around the globe with a selection of great Burgundy wines.
During a ceremony on June, 7th at the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the selected wines were loaded in a high-tech refrigerated container called “reefer” that maintains the wine at a constant temperature of 15°C. These wines embarked for a 80-day journey across five continents. CMA CGM Group and its partners intended to demonstrate that transport preserves the wine’s aromas and flavors, and that it can thus be exported worldwide and contribute to France’s commercial dynamism.
After its call in Sydney, the reefer will aboard the CMA CGM Azure. Before arriving in France on September, 18th 2014, it will travel through the Suez Canal¸ cross Singapore, Port Kelang, Chennai Colombo, Damietta, Malta, Genoa, Tilbury, Rotterdam, and Hamburg CMA CGM is proud to offer its expertise in the field of refrigerated shipping for such exceptional wines. They will travel at a constant temperature of 15 ° C, ensuring their protection and proper preservation during transport.
These 420 bottles include the following wines from Burgundy: Crémant de Bourgogne Rosé tasteviné, Saint-Aubin 2010 tasteviné, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru les Saint-Georges Hospices de Nuits 2007 and Corton Renardes Grand Cru 2007 tasteviné.
During a gala dinner that will take place at the Château du Clos de Vougeot on October, 25th, the “Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin” will organize a wine tasting to compare the wines that will have travelled with the same wines that will have been stored in the Cistercian cellar during the time of the trip. This event, which will mark the end of the journey, will perpetuate the Brotherhood founders’ commitment to supporting the influence of Burgundy wines worldwide.
