Paradip, India: The holed Panamana-flag bulker Countess has completed repairs at Paradip, India, Reuters reported. The vessel was found to be taking water on May 27. Discharge of its cargo of 17,182 tons of hard coke began on May 28 and was completed on June 3. St. Joseph Island, Ontario: Efforts are under way to salvage the Canada-flag bulker Algowood, which sank in a dock at Bruce Mines, St. Joseph Island, Ontario, while loading aggregate, Reuters reported. Most of the cargo has been removed and underwater repairs to the vessel's structure and hull are continuing. A plan has been developed to reinforce the hull, which will take two or more weeks to complete and enable the vessel to be refloated.
