GTT launches its training center by welcoming delegates for the first course

Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) announced that its new training center awarded certificates to the first group of delegates to complete a LNG Cargo Operations (SIGTTO management Level) training course.

The delegates who participated received training in the cargo operations typically conducted onboard LNG carries in a course which is approved by DNV GL as complying with the SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators), suggested competence standard.

Located in the grounds of GTT’s headquarters in Saint Rémy Lès Chevreuse near Paris, the site was officially opened on Monday, June 23 with a ribbon cutting ceremony which included the course delegates and GTT staff members.

During the five-day course, delegates were exposed to a full dry-dock to dry-dock voyage cycle of cargo operations using a LNG Handling Simulator developed by GTT. The simulator exercises were combined with lectures, discussions and guided self-study in the evenings together with daily assessments.

Feedback from some of the initial participants on completion of the course was positive, GTT said. Captain Costas Krokos (Maran Gas) said that the simulator is, “close to reality” and Mcvin Celibio, Superintendant at K-Line LNG Shipping (UK) underscored “the course effectiveness” and “appreciated the completeness of the GTT course offering all at a single location.”

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, declared, “This is a big event for GTT, and we are proud to be able to offer training in-line with our vision of how this dynamic sector is developing. The first corporate value at GTT is safety which goes hand in hand with training, and this new center follows our culture as we seek to provide excellence.”
