Darwin Port Corporation has advised that, effective 1 July 2015, port charges will be indexed by 0.8% applying the Darwin All Groups CPI for the March 2015 quarter.

With the low percentage change of less than 1% most standard port charges will see a very minimal increase and some tariffs were not indexed at all.

Changes to tariffs include:

- Reduction of the crane hire rate of $202.87 to $190.00 per hour and the introduction of a minimum hire period for after hours and weekend hire;

- Pilot detention of greater than 30 minutes will be charged at 25% of the standard pilotage otherwise applicable for each successive 30 minute block;

- Introduction of electricity and storage charges for 40 FT reefer containers;

- Introduction of infrastructure support contribution for visiting foreign navy berthing at Fort Hill Wharf or East Arm Wharf at the rate of 25 cents per GRT per day.

The new Port Changes have been introduced to better reflect the utilisation of port resources and recovery of operational costs.

Any enquiries in relation to port charges should be directed to General Manager Port Development, Mr Peter Dummett on 08 8922 0688 or via email at peter.dummett@nt.gov.au.
