Volvo Penta Conducts Training for Dealer Network

Volvo Penta of the Americas conducted a custom training course in Cancun, Mexico recently, providing full instruction in the assembly, repair and alignment of IPS engines for its regional dealer network in Mexico and Central America.
Seventeen technicians attended the series of five-day, Spanish-language classes held at Pirate Marine in Cancun. They received a full training on Volvo Penta’s IPS forward-facing propulsion system, along with EVC accessories and Vodia diagnostics for IPS.
According to Magnus Gedda, manager of product training, Volvo Penta of the Americas, the program is part of Volvo Penta’s strategy to build on the company’s dealer relationships in Mexico and Central America.
“Consistency in service and procedures is highly important, especially for the boat owner. No matter where they are located in the world, they will receive the same level of service that they have come to expect from Volvo Penta,” said Gedda. “This instruction is an excellent opportunity for dealers to learn, first-hand, about the IPS propulsion system from the company that developed it, Volvo Penta. We encourage other dealers to take advantage of these regional training programs.”
With its unique forward-facing, twin counter-rotating propellers, combined with steerable pods, the Volvo Penta IPS continues to set the standard in handling, onboard comfort and maneuverability. Boat owners are impressed with the system due to its compact design, high-performance, fuel efficiency and reduction in noise and vibration levels. Volvo Penta significantly changed the boating industry in 2005 when IPS was introduced and since then, over 20,000 IPS units have been delivered to 550 boatbuilders and are installed in over 1,100 different boat models.
The course was attended by technicians from Pirate Marine, Volmar, Diesel Premier, Marine Boat Group and Compass Yacht, from Mexico, and by Borbon Marine in Costa Rica and Alfa Marina in Guatemala.
