According to a report from Bloomberg, the number of container ships idled rose to the highest level in 18 months as the supply of vessels expanded and trade growth slowed, citing information from Alphaliner.
According to the report, 210 ships with a combined carrying capacity of 526,000 20-foot boxes were idled as of Dec. 5, Alphaliner said. That’s the highest since May 2010 and will reach 600,000 boxes by the end of the year, according to the report.
