U.S. Shipping Coordinating Committee to Conduct Meetings

The U.S. Shipping Coordinating Committee, sponsored by the Department of State, will conduct three public meetings. The Working Group on Radio Communications and Search and Rescue will meet on January 5 in Arlington, Virginia. Topics on the agenda include maritime safety information on GMDSS; recognition of mobile satellite systems; and large passenger ship safety. 70 Fed. Reg. 76899 (December 28, 2005). The Subcommittee on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping will meet on January 17 in Washington, DC. Topics on the agenda include measures to enhance maritime security; unlawful practices associated with certificates of competency; and measures to prevent accidents with lifeboats. 70 Fed. Reg. 76899 (December 28, 2005). The Subcommittee on Ship Design and Equipment will meet on January 26 in Washington, DC.
