Dougherty Appointed to Delaware River

Port Authority of PA and New Jersey Pennslyvania Governor Edward G. Rendell announced his appointment of John J. Dougherty to the Delaware River Port Authority of Pennsylvania and New Jersey (DRPA). Governor Rendell, DRPA's chairman, appointed Dougherty to a five-year term. DRPA is a regional transportation and economic development agency that serves southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. The Authority owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges. Dougherty is business manager for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local Union 98 and chairman of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia. He also serves as vice president of Philadelphia Mechanical Trades Council, Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council and Philadelphia Council of the AFL-CIO. "John Dougherty brings a lifetime of public service to the Delaware River Port Authority and a strong understanding of its role in the community," Governor Rendell said. "He makes an excellent addition to its membership."
