February 20, 2001

Aker Finnyards and the Finnish Navy have agreed on a $1.5 million contract for the construction of another Hamina-Class Fast Surface Combatant.

The vessel, which will be delivered in April 2003, will have a length of 8.5 m, draft of 1.5 m and displacement of 200 tons. Comprised of aluminum and lightweight composite materials in the superstructure, the vessel's propulsion system will consist of two waterjets producing a speed of more than 30 knots.

Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
