Naiad has just delivered a new 10.0 Meter Pilot Vessel, the DALTON PURSUIT, to its owner in Newfoundland, Canada.

In addition to pilot work, the DALTON PURSUIT will provide commercial transport service for crew and small supplies to commercial ships moored off her home port. DALTON PURSUIT is based on Naiad's wide beam 10.0 meter platform, originally developed by Naiad for use by the US Department of Justice in anti-smuggling, anti-terrorism, and law enforcement operations.

The wide beam 10.0 meter platform allows for more interior space in the cabin and on deck.  It is a highly efficient stepped-hull design that can accommodate up to twin 350 HP outboard motors. Combined fuel consumption is approximately 1 gallon/mile at 33 knots (33 GPH) with twin 250 HP outboard motors.  The standard fuel tank is 280 gallons. Up to a 50 gallon water tank is available. The owner selected Naiad's D-shaped foam core/polyurethane cover fendering system.  This system uses the same Erez fabric as Naiad's patented inflatable collar system, but eliminates the risk of deflation. Naiad developed the latest version of this system for use on its fleet of 7.9 Meter USCG RHIBs, built for the USCG's 154 foot Fast Response Cutter fleet.

Naiad's fendering system is suitable for military, commercial, and private use.  Unlike our competitors' systems, this patent pending system utilizes a novel attachment design that requires no special tools or equipment for removal, nor does it require an internal bladder for tensioning the cover like a hybrid system.  It maintains the sleek look of a true RHIB, while providing the ruggedness of a foam core product. Naiad's durable proprietary inflatable collars are also available for this vessel in both D-shaped and full size versions.

DALTON PURSUIT is certified for passenger carrying under Canadian Transport Authority guidelines, but could also be USCG certified for passenger carrying.  Her compliment of safety and lifesaving equipment was specified to comply with Canadian regulations. The liferaft is mounted on the cabin top. A pilot recover ladder and life ring are located in the aft cockpit. LED lighting is used throughout the vessel. DALTON PURSUIT has courtesy lights, deck floodlights, red/white interior lighting, and an ACR remote control spotlight. She is equipped with LED towing, pilot, and navigation lights located on a light mast that can be lowered for trailering.

Passenger amenities include a toilet, sink, and microwave in the cuddy cabin forward.  A diesel fired Webasto heating system has been installed for heat/defrost in cabin.  Opening hatches, sliding windows, and interior fans provide ventilation for summer use. A salt water wash-down system is provided on deck. An inverter provides 110VAC power when offshore. A shore power connection is provided for dockside use. The windows and door are manufactured by Diamond Sea Glaze.  Hatches are Bomar. Both the folding and fixed bench seats are Naiad fabricated.  Helm and navigator's positions are equipped with Shockwave G-Flip shock mitigating seats.

The owner selected twin 250 HP Mercury Verado outboard motors for power, which gave a top speed of 42 knots in preliminary sea trials.  The vessel has two stations, the second aft of the cabin for control when unloading deck cargo.  A Lewmar bow thruster has also been installed with controls at both stations.  The bow thruster has a dedicated battery bank with charging isolation from the house and engine systems. The vessel is capable of speeds approaching 60 knots when equipped with twin 350 HP outboards.

Electronics include a Furuno MFD 12, RD-33 multi-display, DF1 sounder module, LH3000 hailer, and Icom VHF radio. A stereo with four speakers was also installed.
