Athens Group Expansion and Hiring Initiative
Athens Group made three announcements: the opening of their office in Geoje, South Korea, two management promotions relative to their geographical expansion, and a major hiring initiative designed to meet the growing demand for their risk mitigation and problem remediation services for control systems on offshore assets.
More high-specification assets are under construction in the Keppel FELS, SemCorp, Daewoo, and Samsung shipyards than there have been at any other time. The Geoje office was established to enable Athens Group to provide their customers who are located in Asia and working in the region’s shipyards with faster, more tailored, and more cost-effective Drilling Technology AssuranceSM Services for control systems. Roger Ball, who is already stationed in South Korea, has been named regional director for Asia. He will lead and support the region’s Solution Delivery Managers to ensure quality, high return on investment projects.
Reflecting the company’s continued growth in the UK and Europe, Randy Iseminger has been named regional director for the UK and Europe and will lead and support the region’s Solution Delivery Managers. In their prior roles as Solution Delivery Managers, both Roger and Randy gained extensive experience using Athens Group’s Proven PracticesSM Methodology to ensure successful newbuild lifecycle projects for customers such as ExxonMobil, Pacific Drilling and Transocean.
Oil demand is expected to increase over the next two decades, and oil and gas will be needed even when alternative energies become more mainstream. With the end of the “easy oil” era, safe global deepwater drilling will continue to be essential to global economic growth. “The combination of the experience gap created by the ‘Great Crew Change,’ the reduced number of graduates entering the oil and gas industry, and the increased prevalence and complexity of technology on offshore assets is making it harder for Drilling Contractors and Operators to recruit and retain the required number of software-experienced crew members,” said Mike Haney, CEO of Athens Group. “As a result, demand for Athens Group’s specialized services is growing worldwide and the company is currently hiring professionals who want to help improve the performance and safety of offshore drilling. We are looking for professionals who are energized by challenging, high-impact projects, continually looking for new solutions, passionate about going the extra mile to exceed customer expectations, and want to work in a company that provides full and ongoing training, career growth, and the opportunity to make a difference.”
