GTT organized its first Seminar on GST membrane full integrity systems in its head office in Saint-Rémy-Lès-Chevreuse, France.

During three days, from April 14-16, 2014, more than 40 delegates from EPCs, oil and gas majors, classification societies and engineering companies have attended presentations and site visits, to receive and update on the membrane full integrity technology dedicated to onshore storage.

In the first two days, the presentations gave an insight of the latest design, procurement and construction features of the systems, as well as an interesting panel discussion with well known tank experts. One topic which was debated was whether or not a membrane full integrity really requires a hydrostatic test during construction. Distinguished speakers offered their feedback on the subject: INEOS provided feedback of operation of the first membrane full integrity tank in service since 1972. Energy World Corporation also offered feedback on membrane full integrity tanks under construction in Southeast Asia.

To close the seminar, a visit of the French LNG terminal of Montoir de Bretagne in Britany was organized thanks to ELENGY. A complete tour of the terminal including the surroundings of the LNG full integrity tanks (membrane and self supported) followed. ELENGY also proved interesting feedback of the operation of the two membrane full integrity tanks.

“This seminar was a great success. The number of attendees as well as the question raised clearly showed that the industry needed such an event”, commented David Colson, Commercial Vice President of GTT. “We have already decided to organize new GST Forum next year.”
