Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

August 13, 2008

Launched at the Guangzhou Panyu Lingshan Shipyard, the 36-meter Swissco Super underwent yard trials on June 3 and full sea trails and delivery were completed June 10. With a 9.8-meter beam and 4.3-meter molded depth the BV-classed boat has tankage for 250 cubic meters of fuel and 100 cubic meters of water.
The Singapore registered vessel, the third in a ten-boat series, meets the IMO/SOLAS standards for life saving and fire fighting. For external fire fighting capabilities it has a 650 cubic meter pump feeding a pair of foam/water monitors. The deckhouse is protected with a set of water curtain nozzles. A pair of boomless dispersant spray nozzles is mounted in the bow. Air-conditioned accommodations are provided for up to 20 crewmembers.
Main engines are a pair of Cummins KTA38 M2 engines each delivering 1200 hp at 1800 RPM to Reinjes WAF460 gears turning propellers in nozzles. This combination gives the Swissco Super a 31-ton bollard pull on the single drum 40-ton towing winch. Electrical power is supplied by a pair of Cummins-powered 135 kw generators. The vessel is fitted with a 150 kw tunnel type bow thruster.
