New Asset Integrity Management System Launched
Bureau Veritas has launched Veristar AIM 3D asset integrity management system, based on technology partner Dassault Systems’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The new solution combines a digital twin of any marine or offshore assets with smart data in a collaborative environment. Veristar AIM 3D will be used in the design, development and implementation of the operational lifecycle, to reflect and predict the condition of any asset, or fleet of assets. The solution supports risk based inspection and condition based maintenance approaches.
MPA Honors ABS

ABS Recognized in Singapore for R&D Collaboration
ABS, a classification and technical services provider to the offshore and marine industries, has been recognized by the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) as this year’s recipient of the Honorary SMI Collaboration Award. Guest of honor Lucien Wong, Chairman of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, presented the Honorary SMI Collaboration Award to ABS on October 10 at the SMI Forum. The award represents special acknowledgement of the many projects pursued in collaboration with the ABS Singapore Innovation and Research Center (SIRC).
RINA Awards Carnival Maritime with Environmental, Safety
RINA recently awarded Carnival Maritime GmbH ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 certificates. Now the Carnival Maritime office in Hamburg as well as 26 ships in Carnival Maritime’s fleet have been awarded environmental management ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety management BS OHSAS 18001 certifications. The certified fleet includes Costa and AIDA ships. Initially only ships belonging to Costa Crociere were included in RINA Services scope of work. This was then expanded to include AIDA Cruises ships, in order to incorporate best practice across both fleets.
ABS Group Signs on Elba LNG Project
ABSG Consulting Inc., a subsidiary of ABS Group of Companies, Inc. (ABS Group), has been contracted by Kinder Morgan, Inc. to develop a Maintenance and Integrity Program for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal at Elba Island (Elba LNG Project) near Savannah, Georgia. ABS Group will develop the maintenance and integrity programs for the base plant, balance of plant and the terminal upgrade. The full scope of ABS Group's services cover program development and execution, including project management, strategy development and business processes, asset register, mechanical integrity (MI), preventative maintenance development, spare parts and bill of materials, as well as data asset management services.

Classification society Bureau Veritas has entered into a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes, the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, company in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, in which Bureau Veritas will use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to enable the continuous assessment throughout the lifetime of ships and offshore platforms, as well as the equipment found on them. Bureau Veritas’ integrated Asset Integrity Management System will help owners and operators in their decision-making and improve maintenance and repair, seeking to reduce cost and downtime. New Ferry Safety Initiative from RINA
Italy-based classification society RINA informs it has launched a ferry safety initiative. The Asset Integrity Management scheme for ro-pax ferries covers fire risk mitigation, single-failure risk assessment, enhanced planned maintenance and condition-based monitoring and also food and bacteriological risk management. Aker Solutions Wins North Sea Contracts
Norwegian oil services firm Aker Solutions won two offshore contracts, including a 120 million pound ($188.82 million) deal to provide engineering, construction and commissioning services on Statoil's Mariner development in the UK, it said on Monday. The firm also won a two-year contract extension worth 360 million Norwegian crowns for asset integrity management work at 11 offshore and three onshore locations for Statoil in Norway. Aker Solutions Wins Mariner Development Deal
Aker Solutions secured a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering to provide engineering, construction and commissioning services for the hook-up phase of the Mariner oilfield development in the UK North Sea. The agreement is worth more than GBP 120 million. It comes in addition to a five-year maintenance and modifications services contract awarded in June by Statoil for the Mariner field, which is set to start production in 2017. "We are very pleased to be expanding our already significant role in developing the Mariner field and to be working with Daewoo and Statoil," said Tore Sjursen, head of Aker Solutions' maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) business.
