MAN to Supply Propulsion for World’s Largest Car Carriers

Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) has received an order for four MAN B&W 8S60ME-GI engines in connection with the building of four 10,800 CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) for South Korean shipping owner, HMM Co. MAN Bags First Propulsion Order for Its Methanol-fueled MAN 21/31DF-M GenSet

MAN Energy Solutions reports it has received an order for three MAN 6L21/31DF-M (Dual Fuel-Methanol) GenSets capable of running on methanol in connection with the construction of a 7,990 dwt IMO Type II chemical bunker tanker.The dual-fuel engines will form part of a diesel-electric propulsion system on board the vessel with electrical motors driving twin fixed-pitch propellers via gearboxes; an onboard battery-storage system will optimize the use of the dual-fueled generators.

China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) has ordered six small-bore, seven-cylinder 21/31DF-M, methanol-burning gensets in connection with the construction of 2 × 9,300 ceu (car equivalent units) PCTCs for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES).The business represents the very first order for the new methanol-powered, MAN four-stroke genset. CMP, DFDS to Set Up Shore Power in Copenhagen

Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) and Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS have reached an agreement to establish a shore power facility in Copenhagen, which means that the Crown Seaways and Pearl Seaways vessels will be able to receive electricity from land.A shore power facility will reduce emissions of air contaminated particles such as NOx, SOx and particulate matter, which goes hand in hand with the ambitions of both CMP and DFDS to actively contribute to a greener Copenhagen.CMP and DFDS are engaged in a joint effort, which means that the DFDS vessels will be able to be connected to shore power from next year.With DFDS’ scheduled ferry services…

Michael Müller New CEO of Bavaria Yachts

Bavaria Yachts, the producer of sailing and motor yachts in Europe, has appointed Michael Müller as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bavaria Yachtbau GmbH in Germany. He will also be responsible for the division of the Nautitech Catamarans SAS in France.The move follows on from a three-month tenure for Michael as MD for sales and marketing for the group. Copenhagen Malmo Port Begins LNG Bunkering

Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) now offers bunkering of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). First off was the vessel Ireland, which unloaded cement in Malmö. In connection with this she was provided with LNG via tanker lorries. It's about bunkering where safety requirements are extra tough. The bunkering at the end of May was made possible through close cooperation between the LNG supplier SkanGas, the client company Cementa, and CMP. Together the companies have investigated risks, taken precautionary measures and developed routines for bunkering LNG at CMP. "Ireland was provided with LNG via two tanker lorries on the quayside. The bunkering was undramatic, and it feels good for us now to be able to offer this possibility", says CMP's Terminal Manager Emil Nordström.

K Line's Solar Powered Car Carrier Visits CMP

The latest generation of car carrier arrived recently. The sun doesn’t just shine over the ship, it also contributes to generating energy for it as Drive Green Highway has high efficiency solar panels. Drive Green Highway is the world’s biggest ship adapted for solar energy. She is almost 200 meters long, 38 meters wide and is operated by the Japanese shipping company K Line. The ship has the capacity to load 7,500 cars. When she recently visited Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP), just over 1,400 cars were unloaded in Malmö.

Copenhagen’s New Cruise Terminal Green-lighted

A new cruise terminal will be built in Copenhagen, having received the go-ahead from the Board of Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP). CMP has responded to rising demand and has assessed that current facilities need to be augmented with another terminal building, Terminal 4. Dual-Fuel Variant of MAN L23/30 Engine Awarded TAT

MAN Diesel & Turbo’s dual-fuel MAN L23/30DF engine successfully passed its Type Approval Test (TAT) at CSSC Marine Power (CMP) in Zhenjiang in front of the industry’s main classification societies. The five-cylinder test engine in China had an output of 125 kW per cylinder at a nominal speed of 720/750 rpm.
