GSL Fixes Keta with OOCL

Marshall Islands-incorporated Global Ship Lease (GSL) has agreed a new charter for the 2003-built, 2,207 TEU GSL Keta.The containership charter owner said in a press release that commencing in late July, the vessel will be chartered for minimum 50 days / maximum 90 days to Hong Kong-based container shipping and logistics service company Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) at a fixed rate of $8,700 per day.Ian Webber, Chief Executive Officer of Global Ship Lease, said, “We are pleased to have signed this charter at an improved rate with a top-tier counterparty in OOCL.

Samskip, a European multimodal service provider group, appointed Kari-Pekka Laaksonen as the Group Chief Executive.Laaksonen, who takes up his post at Samskip’s Rotterdam headquarters on August 1st, 2019, is the former CEO of Samskip competitor Containerships, where he led the Finnish group’s aggressive growth from 2012. Europe: LNG Bunkering During Transhipment

The port of Rotterdam could recently boast a European first: a ship bunkered LNG (liquefied natural gas) while transhipping containers at the same time.The largest port in Europe, located in the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands said in a press release that this major step in the sector-wide acceptance of LNG as a transport fuel for shipping was taken by Containerships Nord.The procedure, known as simultaneous bunkering, allows ships to significantly cut their port call times. The operation took place at the RST terminal at Prins Willem Alexanderhaven in Rotterdam.

MacGregor to Upgrade MSC Vessels
