Damen Offering Coronavirus Disinfection for Ships

Otto Marine Builds 4 Vessels for PTK

Otto Marine Limited, an offshore marine group which owns and operates a large fleet of offshore support vessels with a worldwide presence, complemented by a technically proven shipyard, announced today that its shipyard, PT Batamec, has completed the construction of two units of harbor tug and two units of anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) for PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK). A delivery ceremony was held for the four vessels on March 27, 2015 at the Group’s shipyard in Batam, Indonesia.

Oman Drydock Announces 200th Drydocking

Oman Drydock Company (ODC), based in the Middle East’s new mega city of Duqm, signaled its "passionate and driving ambition" to catapult itself further into the region’s multibillion dollar ship repair industry after completing its 200th drydocking since launching in 2011. A ceremony was held at the shipyard, which cost $1.5 billion to build, to celebrate the landmark with shipping giant Maersk whose vessel, the 4388 TEU Maersk Wisconsin, was the 200th ship to be drydocked by ODC.

Oman Drydock Announces Strongest Year of Trading

The Oman Drydock Company (ODC), one of the Middle East’s newest and biggest shipyards, is announcing its strongest year of trading. The shipyard undertook 75 drydockings and repairs in 2013 taking the total number to 190 since the yard which was opened in Duqm in Central Oman in 2011. ODC also saw staff numbers increase to more than 2,000 in 2013. The vessels ODC has worked on include Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), crude oil tankers, container ships, LNG and LPG carriers, chemical carriers, bulk carriers, as well as dredgers, RO-ROs and barges.

Damen Shipyards Group acquires Shipdock

As of this week, Damen Shipyards Group is the new owner of Dutch ship repair yard Shipdock. Shipdock, a well-known shipyard group with roots dating back to 1877, operates facilities in Amsterdam and Harlingen. The yard will continue its ship repair and conversion services, with Shipdock Harlingen servicing ships up to 120 m and Shipdock Amsterdam servicing vessels up to 250 m. Damen Acquires French Ship Repair Yard

As of this week, Damen Shipyards Group is the new owner of French shiprepair yard Arno Dunkerque, the only operator for ship repair and conversion in the 3rd largest French port, Dunkirk. The yard will continue its ship repair and conversion services. Furthermore, its personnel and management will remain in place, guaranteeing a seamless transition of the yard into the Damen Shipyards Group, which currently consists of more than 45 shipyards, repair & conversion yards and related companies.

Patrol Boats – Singapore Shipyard Wins Middle East Order

Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) has announced that its marine arm, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine) has secured a contract worth €534.8m (about S$880m) to design and build four patrol vessels (PVs) and the provision of associated logistic support for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). This contract was awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman through a competitive international tender. ST Marine will build four 75-metre PVs based on its proprietary Fearless Class of PVs. The project will commence immediately with the first vessel expected to be delivered in 2Q 2015 and the final vessel in 3Q 2016. President NG Sing Chan said: “We are honoured to be entrusted by the Royal Navy of Oman with this project.

Keppel Shipyard to Deliver New FPSO

Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to deliver its latest Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) project, Armada TGT 1, to Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada). EMAS to take delivery of FPSOs from Keppel Shipyard

EMAS Production is set to take delivery of one of Vietnam's largest Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels from Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard), on behalf of owner PV Keez Pte. Ltd (PV Keez). To be managed and operated by EMAS Production, FPSO Lewek EMAS has been chartered by Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore B.V. for the development of the Chim Sáo field off southern Vietnam for six years, with a further option to extend the charter by another six years. The FPSO charter contract is one of only seven signed worldwide in 2009, and is worth approximately US$1 billion.

Drydocks World Newbuild Contract

Drydocks World - Southeast Asia Pte Limited, the Southeast Asian subsidiary of Drydocks World, announced that it has secured a newbuilding contract with Scottish Highlands International Inc., a subsidiary of Coastline Maritime Pte Ltd, to construct a 689-ft Ultra Large Multi-Purpose Offshore Construction Vessel. DDW-Sea operates four shipyards in Singapore and on Batam Island Indonesia providing offshore rig construction, volume shipbuilding and ship repair and conversion services. It currently has fourteen offshore supply vessels under construction. Its flagship building is OSA Sampson, the second of two Multi-Purpose Offshore Construction Vessels under construction at Drydocks World - Pertama shipyard for Coastline Maritime.

Stabbert Yacht & Ship Shipyard

CEO Dan Stabbert and Paul Madden, Head of Sales, announced the sale of the 308 ft ex-NOAA Research Ship Sahara to a European buyer. This vessel is currently undergoing a complete re-fit and conversion at Stabbert Yacht and Ship (SYS) in Seattle. The vessel will be exported from the US and may benefit from a new export financing program that SYS is offering to international buyers. Under this program, Stabbert is able to offer competitive financing for buyers by guaranteeing term financing to creditworthy international buyers for purchases of U.S. vessels and refit/conversion services.

Labroy Shipbuilding Purchases Autoship System

Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) has sold CAD/CAM software to Labroy Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd (Labroy) of Singapore. transformation. First, existing software will be upgraded to present versions, and another seat of each of Autoship Pro and Autostructure will be added. United Defense to Acquire United States Marine Repair

United Defense Industries announced that it has agreed to acquire closely held United States Marine Repair, Inc., a provider of non-nuclear ship repair, modernization, overhaul and conversion services to the United States Navy, for $316 million. Based in Norfolk, Va., United States Marine Repair serves defense and commercial customers at six strategically located ship repair operations in the major ports of Norfolk, Va.; San Diego, San Francisco and San Pedro, Calif.; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Ingleside, Texas. In addition to the company's primary customer, the U.S. Navy, its current customers include the Military Sealift Command, the U.S. Army, the Maritime Administration, the U.S. Coast Guard, and commercial cruise lines such as Holland-America and Royal Caribbean.

Herma Selects Autoship Software

Autoship Systems Corporation sold its CAD/CAM software to Herma Shipbuilding, Inc. of Quezon City, Philippines. Herma's installation of Autoship Pro, Autopower, Autohydro Pro, Autoplate and Autostructure and Production Manager is for two dedicated users across a network platform. AutoPlant, a 3D Piping program from ASC partner firm, Bentley Systems, Inc., was also installed with direct integration into Autostructure. Herma Shipyard provides shipbuilding, ship repair and ship conversion services. It is a member of the Herma Group, which provides petroleum, maritime and environmental services.

In what amounts to what would be an amazing turn of fortune over a number of years, Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, La., has signed a contract, pursuant to approval of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, to acquire the assets and operations of Halter Marine from Friede Goldman Halter, Inc. Bollinger Shipyards has always been regarded as a well-run builder of quality vessels for the U.S. and foreign markets. However, less than a decade ago, the company was overshadowed by the enormous network of ship and boatyards that was Halter Marine. But Halter, with a mountain of debt and a tight offshore market, fell from the top, in concert with Bollinger's rise.

ConAgra Inc., the second largest U.S. food manufacturer, has agreed to sell American Commercial Lines LLC (ACL) its large U.S. inland barge fleet and operations. Financial terms of the deal, which ConAgra said was part of ongoing series of strategic divestments, were not announced. ACL will acquire 930 owned and chartered barges, nine chartered towboats and one dry dock, the companies said in a joint statement. The deal includes Peavey Barge Lines, Brown Water Towing Inc. and Superior Barge Lines, Inc. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval but is expected to be completed in the next 30 days, the companies said. Greg Heckman, president and CEO, ConAgra Trade Group, said, "Our decision to sell the barge company is a strategic one.

FirstWave And A&P Form Alliance

FirstWave and A&P Group have laid the foundation for the first global network dedicated to marine repair. This alliance will initially capitalize on the multi-site facilities and knowledge of both companies in offshore vessel maintenance, rig repairs and complex conversions. The joint venture also allows both companies to combine marketing and share project management expertise for the delivery of repair and conversion services for clients in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico.
