Tug Network Team (TNT), an alliance of independent towage operators launched in the Americas in 2024, has expanded into Europe with the addition of Fairplay Towage.The move increases the alliance’s presence to 113 ports across 13 countries with a combined fleet of more than 200 tugboats.TNT was initially formed by Group Ocean, Sulnorte and CPT Towage to strengthen regional cooperation among independent operators and offer shipowners broader access to towage services across the Americas.With the addition of Hamburg-based Fairplay Towage, the alliance now extends its reach into Europe.

TDI-Brooks increases its vessel capacity by adding a 75-meter DP2 vessel, R/V NAUTILUS to its fleet, a ship that can offer a variety of offshore assistance with subsea services, construction aid, exploration, production, ROV and diving support, and scientific marine research and survey mapping, along with military support.This vessel is currently about 60% through its retrofit period in Las Palmas, scheduled to complete its shipyard period in late September 2023 and then transit to Trinidad for several geotechnical coring projects.
TDI-Brooks Awarded Contract to Study Seabed Conditions for US Offshore Wind
U.S.-based marine services company TDI-Brooks announced it was awarded geophysical, geotechnical and benthic sampling survey campaigns to study seabed conditions within the project lease area and potential export cable corridors for offshore wind farms off the U.S. East Coast. TDI-Brooks said it expects to begin the program in April and will continue through summer 2023 with two to three vessels in operations. The data collected will help determine safe and responsible project design and engineering along with identifying potential geohazards and benthic habitats.

Cosco, PSA Launch New Berth in Singapore
China's Cosco Shipping Ports (CSP) is launching a new berth at its joint venture container terminal - Cosco PSA Terminal (CPT) - with PSA Corporation in Singapore. The two parties inked a memorandum of understanding on Thursday for the berth, which will be Cosco Shipping Ports' third at the Pasir Panjang Terminal. Established in 2003, CPT has served as a hub for container shipping in the Southeast Asia region. The launch of the third berth follows the CSP supplemental agreement signed with PSA on 18 March 2016, which replaced the original two berths in CPT located at Pasir Panjang Terminal 1 with three new and larger berths at Pasir Panjang Terminal 5.
Essar to Develop LNG Terminal at Haldia
India's Essar Ports has won a contract to build the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in West Bengal under the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) at an investment of Rs 450 crore (USD 70 million). A Press Trust of India report said that the LNG project is expected to be commissioned in two years. The facility will come up at the Haldia port with a capacity to store one million tonne of the clean fuel. Haldia Dock Complex under Kolkata Port Trust had earlier this year invited bids for setting up an LNG terminal with storage and distribution facilities. Essar Ports, in consortium with Ultra LNG and Essar Shipping, had participated in the tender and emerged as the highest bidder for the project, beating state-owned Petronet and private operator V Energy.
Cochin Port Gets a Little 'Breathing Space'
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs of India, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for waiver of penal interest on Government of India (GOI) loans availed of by Cochin Port Trust (CPT) to the tune of Rs 897.23 crore (USD 134 million), providing some financial breathing space for the port. The Cochin Port Trust availed loans for various developmental activities from Govt. of India amounting between1936-37 to 1994-95. Non-repayment of these loans has attracted penal interest to the tune of Rs. 914.80 crore. The Port could not repay the loans since the projected revenue from the capital investment done was not sufficient to cover the interest component. The move comes in the backdrop of a series of steps taken by Cochin Port.
Euroseas Reports Loss
Euroseas Ltd has announced its results for the three and six month period ended June 30, 2016 as well as certain fleet updates. Total net revenues of $7.3 million. Net loss of $19.2 million; net loss attributable to common shareholders (after a $0.4 million of dividend on Series B Preferred Shares) of $19.6 million or $2.42 loss per share basic and diluted. The results include an impairment charge of $14.0 million on our "Investment in joint venture". Adjusted net loss attributable to common shareholders1 for the period was $0.51 per share basic and diluted. An average of 11.4 vessels were owned and operated during the second quarter of 2016 earning an average time charter equivalent rate of $7,373 per day.
IHC Takes Majority Stakes in Tompkins
Royal IHC and Tompkins UK Limited are strengthening their strategic cooperation with IHC’s acquisition of a majority stake in Tompkins, the parent company of Modus Seabed Intervention and a partner in the TI Geosciences joint venture (that IHC and Tompkins created in 2015). Modus is a specialist provider of remote and autonomous technologies for subsea and seabed intervention. It has industry-leading capabilities in remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services and currently deploys a fleet of work class ROVs and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in construction and drill support, as well as survey and inspection activities. With its fleet of trenching ROVs and systems, Modus also offers seabed intervention solutions in cable and pipeline trenching, and seabed earthmoving, among others.
