Alewijnse to Perform Electrical Refit of Den Herder Hopper Dredge

Systems integrator Alewijnse said it has signed a contract to deliver the electrical refit of Den Herder Seaworks' trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Swalinge.The 82.2-meter vessel is currently at Kooiman Hoebee Shipyard in Dordrecht for an extension of 37.1 meters, which will increase the cargo space by 1,300 cubic meters.Alewijnse is responsible for the complete engineering package on board the Swalinge, including the main switchboard and various panels to extend the cabling…

First Damen MAD3500 Dredger Launched

The first of Damen’s new Marine Aggregate Dredger class, a 103.5 meter MAD 3500, has been launched at Damen Shipyards Galati (DSGa) in Romania. Hanson Orders Advanced Aggregate Dredger

Damen Shipyards Group and UK-based Hanson Aggregates Marine have signed a contract for the construction of a Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD) 3500 vessel. Damen’s shipyard in GalaĹŁi, Romania is selected to build the innovative new vessel, which is  scheduled for delivery in early 2021. The ship will be used to extract aggregates offshore up to depths of 55 metres, for use in the onshore construction industry.The dredge equipment and screening installation will be constructed by Damen Dredging Equipment (DDE) in Nijkerk, The Netherlands, said a press release.Hanson UK is a leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry, and produces aggregates (crushed rock, sand and gravel), ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, cement and cement-related materials.

CEMEX UK Orders Dredger from Damen

CEMEX UK Marine Limited has placed an order for the first Damen Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD). The vessel, which will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, in Romania, is designed to extract sand and gravel from the sea bed up to depths of 55 meters, including in the challenging conditions experienced in the North Sea. Damen said the MAD is the result of extensive market research and customer consultation. A new, future-facing vessel of this type is aligned with an aggregate industry faced with an aging fleet of vessels and an increased focus on marine activity.

Ellicott Dredges LLC & Rohr-Idreco Dredge Systems, which are owned by Ellicott Dredge Enterprises, LLC, has  announced that Ellicott's Latin American Sales Manager, Andres Borasino, will be adding the Rohr-Idreco deep digging dredge product lines to his area of responsibilities. The three product lines complement each other by offering customers multiple dredging options based on the their material and digging depth requirements. Rohr-Idreco Delivers Clamshell Dredge

The Rohr division of Rohr-Idreco Dredge Systems has announced the successful start-up of another new Floating Gantry 8m3 Clamshell deep digging dredge in France. This dredge is being used to replace an old 6m3 Rohr Gantry Clamshell dredge, which Rohr has rebuilt and sold to another customer. The new 8m3 Rohr Gantry dredge was purchased to increase the digging depth and production at an existing Sand & Gravel operation. The customer chose to go with a Rohr dredge again due to the outstanding performance and service they had experienced with their first dredge.

USA has acquired selected assets of Rohr Corporation (USA), including its current backlog, and all associated intellectual property, as well as the shares of Rohr Bagger GMBH, based in Mannheim, Germany. Through a newly formed subsidiary, Rohr International Dredge Co., LLC, Rohr will operate as an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Ellicott.
