PPG Completes 200th Electrostatic Dry Docking
PPG announced the completion of its 200th vessel dry docking using electrostatic application of marine fouling control coatings, nearly three years after introducing the technique to the global shipping market. The project was completed on the Stena Britannica, a passenger and roll-on/roll-off cargo vessel operated by Stena Line, one of the world’s largest ferry companies, at the EDR Antwerp shipyard in Belgium. The team applied PPG SIGMAGLIDE 2390 fouling release coating, a silicone-based…
International Launches Aluminum-Pigmented Primer Intergard 6788
AkzoNobel’s marine coatings brand, International, has launched Intergard 6788, a new aluminum-pigmented universal primer developed to meet the demands of the global newbuilding market. The launch in Asia will take place at the Asia Pacific Maritime conference in Singapore, with availability in China and Vietnam as key markets.Epoxy technology enables a higher solids content for the product, proactively meeting increasingly stringent global Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) regulations.
GIT Coatings Launches XGIT-FORCE
GIT Coatings, a leader in sustainable high-performance marine coatings, announced the launch of its graphene-base hard foul-release coating, XGIT-FORCE. With first applications already underway across a global fleet, XGIT-FORCE is engineered to unlock up to 10% fuel savings and provide the highest return on investment of any antifouling coating on the market. XGIT-FORCE is the result of years of research and development, involving testing and trials in different fouling pressure conditions across the globe.

PPG Completes 100th Dry Docking Using Electrostatic Coating Application
PPG announced the 100th dry docking performed using electrostatic application for marine hull coatings. PPG completed the project on the MV Colossus, a 287-meter bulk carrier owned by Enterprises Shipping and Trading S.A. at CUD Weihai Shipyard Co. Ltd. in China. The team applied PPG NEXEON 810 antifouling on the boot top and PPG SIGMAGLIDE 2390 fouling release coating on the underwater hull.PPG is the first coatings company to introduce the application technique to the marine sector…
OSG Expands Graphene Propeller Coating Fleetwide
Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. (OSG) extended its adoption of GIT Coatings’ graphene-based propeller coating, XGIT-PROP, across seven additional crude oil tankers. Previously, OSG applied graphene-based propeller coating to one of its crude oil tanker vessels in October of 2023. The first application of XGIT-PROP on an OSG tanker has seen performance gains and fuel savings proven beyond expectations. A third party has further validated this with the vessel tracked along its trade route covering the Pacific Ocean.
