'Major' Oilfield Service Firm Books Solstad Offshore's CSV for South America Work

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Solstad Offshore has won a contract for its construction support vessel Normand Samson.The CSV Normand Samson was chartered by a major oil service firm for a minimum of 350 days, with the possibility to extend for an additional 150 days, according to the company. Solstad did not say who the client was.The contract will start during Q2 2022. "The vessel will be utilized on a field development project in South America," Solstad Offshore said.Built in 2009, the 121,5 meters long Normand Samson can accommodate 100 people aboard.

Eidesvik Offshore CEO to Retire after 16 Years in Position

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Eidesvik Offshore said Thursday its CEO and President Jan Fredrik Meling would as planned, retire from the position at the age of 65 effective December 31, 2021, after more than 16 years in the position.Starting January 1, 2022, the company’s CCO Gitte Gard Talmo will replace Meling who has served as President & CEO since 2005.Arne Austreid, Chairman of the Board said: “The Board deeply thanks Jan Fredrik Meling for his hard work and many contributions to Eidesvik.

World's First: Wärtsila, Eidesvik to Equip OSV with Ammonia-fueled Combustion Engine

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Eidesvik and Finland-based marine equipment manufacturer Wartsila are going to convert an offshore supply vessel (OSV) to operate with an ammonia-fuelled combustion engine with the required fuel supply and safety system. "This project will be the first of its kind ever in the world and has a provisional completion target by the end of 2023," Wärtsilä said.The offshore vessel considered for a retrofit currently has Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines operating primarily with LNG fuel. The conversion will allow the vessel to operate with a 70 percent ammonia blend.

Retrofit: Eidesvik, Aker BP Partner Up to Cut Emissions from Existing OSV Fleet by 'at least' 70%

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Eidesvik and oil and gas firm Aker BP are developing a project which aims to reduce emissions from existing offshore supply vessels.The project called "Retrofit' will evaluate various solutions for converting existing supply vessels to low-emission units and with the goal of reducing emissions by "at least 70 percent."Aker BP has already, together with strategic partners Eidesvik, Solstad Offshore, and Simon Møkster Shipping, decided to install batteries on three offshore supply vessels operating on long-term contracts with the company.

Havfram Books Eidesvik Offshore's Viking Neptun CSV

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Eidesvik Offshore has won a contract with offshore installation firm Havfram for its construction support vessel Viking Neptun. The contract will start in early January 2022 with a firm period towards the end of the third quarter of 2022. Havfram, formerly known as Ocean Installer, will have options for further extension. The Viking Neptun is an offshore construction vessel built for servicing the SURF (Subsea, Umbilical, Riser, and Flowlines) market. The vessel is equipped with hybrid technology to ensure reduced emissions. Acergy Viking to be Converted to Hybrid Propulsion

Eidesvik said it plans to upgrade its offshore wind support vessel Acergy Viking with a battery pack and hybrid propulsion solution, in line with the Norwegian vessel operator's plans to reduce its fleet’s emissions by 50% by 2030 and to operate emissions-free by 2050.The conversion of the 14-year-old vessel will be completed in the first quarter of 2022. With hybrid propulsion, the 97.6-meter ship is expected to reduce diesel consumption (MGO) by up to 350 tonnes per year, with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 1,000 tonnes per year, Eidesvik said.“Eidesvik took an active role in the development of a battery solution for ships already in 2006.

National WISTA Associations Offer Free Membership for Seafarers

The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association announced a new initiative aimed at helping seafarers.WISTA Norway, WISTA UK, WISTA Singapore, WISTA Brazil, and WISTA Argentina have come together to offer free WISTA membership for seafarers through August 31, 2020. Membership allows seafarers to access the largest network of female managers in the shipping industry, as well as online seminars, webinars and workshops. Seven Viking to set New Standards

The cutting edge Seven Viking vessel, designed for operations in the harshest environments is being unveiled and named at a ceremony in Stavanger, Norway, by Subsea 7, Eidesvik Offshore and Ulstein, 30 January 2013. The next generation Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) vessel, the Seven Viking, is co-owned by Subsea 7 and Eidesvik and has been constructed in partnership with Ulstein. The ICE-C class vessel with a crew capacity of 90 and a top speed of 17 knots, will work for Statoil on a five year contract.

ULSTEIN Delivers Seismic RV

ULSTEIN delivered the seismic research vessel Oceanic Sirius to Eidesvik and CGGVeritas on 3 October. Oceanic Sirius is designed and built in accordance with strict environmental standards and equipped with state-of-the-art technology for advanced seismic research operations. She is owned by a joint venture between Eidesvik and CGGVeritas. The vessel was named in a ceremony in Ulsteinvik on 1 October. Oceanic Sirius is sister vessel to the Oceanic Vega, delivered by ULSTEIN in July 2010.

Wärtsilä Service Agreement with Eidesvik

Wärtsilä, the marine industry's leading ship power solution provider, has signed a long term service agreement with Eidesvik Offshore, Norway, for the supply of maintenance services for the seismic vessel Oceanic Vega. The service agreement is expected to considerably reduce maintenance costs for the owner, while providing uninterrupted availability and high levels of reliability. Kleven Maritime Enters Deal with Meling Supply AS

Kleven Maritime has entered into contract with Meling Supply AS for the building of one multifunctional platform supply vessel, design VS 485, designed by Wärtsilä Ship Design Norway. The company Meling Supply AS is a wholly owned subsidiary of the shipowner O. H. Meling & Co. AS in Stavanger, Norway. The vessel will be outfitted at Myklebust Verft in Gursken, Norway, delivery date is February 28, 2011. This is the third contract for Kleven Maritime within a month of the same vessel design, VS 485.

Siem Acquires PSV Contract

Norwegian offshore vessels operator Siem Offshore Inc said that its 51%-owned subsidiary Siem Meling Offshore DA has agreed to acquire a platform supply vessel construction contract for NOK315m. The Vik-Sandvik VS 485 type vessel will be built at the Eidesvik shipyard in Norway, and is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2009. Siem Offshore is headquartered in Kristiansand in Norway.

Eidesvik Orders Seismic Vessels from Ulstein

Eidesvik has ordered two large, state-of-the-art seismic vessels of the type Ulstein SX120 from Ulstein Verft. The ships will be delivered in spring 2010. The contract’s total value is about $223.3m. Eidesvik is known for innovation and a green profile. The ships that Eidesvik has ordered will be contracted by the world’s largest seismic company, the merged CGG-Veritas. “The ships are gentle on both the external environment and the working environment onboard. We believe the Ulstein X-Bow’s smooth and gentle motion in heavy sea makes it highly suitable for seismic operations,” says Meling. “The bow also helps reduce fuel consumption, which means less pollution. In oceanic seismic surveys, the sea bottom is examined with shock waves in the search for gas or oil reservoirs.
