SHI to Build Six Giant Box Ships for Evergreen

South Korean  shipbuilding giant Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has signed shipbuilding deals for Taiwanese shipping line Evergreen’s latest ultra-large containerships, valued at a total of USD 920 million.SHI said that  the order was placed for the construction of six of the world’s largest container ships, world’s largest smart, Eco-friendly mega-ships, with a capacity of 23,000 TEUs, by May 2022. Containers Market to Grow by 6.5%

The shipping containers market estimated to grow with a CAGR of 6.5% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2026, said a report.According to ResearchAndMarkets' latest report, the number of goods carried by shipping containers witnessed an extravagant grow from 102 million metric tons in 1980 to 1.83 billion metric tons in 2017.The quantity is projected to claim more than 60% of the world seaborne trade and almost 90% of the non-bulk cargo transported across the globe, it said.The number is quite promising and anticipated to proliferate significantly in the coming years.

MSC Kaya Maiden Call at APM Terminals Moin

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company vessel MSC Katya R. became the largest ever container ship to berth at APM Terminals Moin last month. MacGregor to Upgrade MSC Vessels

Cocaine Seized in Philadelphia Port

ICG Sells Oscar Wilde Ferry to MSC

Dublin-based maritime transportation group Irish Continental Group (ICG) has entered into a bareboat hire purchase agreement for the sale of the cruise ferry “Oscar Wilde” to MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company.The total consideration for the sale is EUR28.9m, payable in instalments over six years, up to 2025.Delivery to the buyer is expected to take place this month, said a company release.Built in 1987, the Oscar Wilde was bought by ICG in 2007 and operated on Irish Ferries’ route to France.
