MacGregor Establishes Offshore Division
Cargotec’s MacGregor business area providing marine cargo handling solutions has established a new division, MacGregor Offshore. The acquired companies, Norwegian Hydramarine and Singaporean Plimsoll will be the foundation for the new division. The offshore division will be headed by Henrik Vildenfeldt who previously worked as SVP, Corporate Development at MacGregor. Vildenfeldt reports to Olli Isotalo, President of MacGREGOR. The new division employs approximately 700 people. Both Hydramarine and Plimsoll are included in MacGregor financials as of the beginning of April 2007. The new offshore division will focus on achieving targeted synergies from the combination of Hydramarine and Plimsoll and continue to build on future growth.
Bibby Subsea Expands in Houston
As part of its continuing global growth strategy, subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has announced the opening of a new division and international base in Houston. The company, that also has bases in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Singapore and Trinidad, has initially invested over £3million into the new division, Bibby Subsea Inc. As part of the expansion plan, Andrew Duncan will relocate to Houston, from his existing position of business and commercial director at the company’s Aberdeen HQ, to president and managing director of Bibby Subsea.
MacGregor Reorganizes into 7 Operative Divisions
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, announces changes in its operative structure and starts a reorganization into seven operative divisions which will become effective on January 1, 2015. The six new operative divisions together with Global Lifecycle Support as the seventh one will enable MacGregor to improve customer service throughout the lifecycle of the products, offer more comprehensive packages and boost the development of new shiptype-specific solutions, the company said. Høyesen to Head MacGregor's Offshore Solution Division
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, creates a new division 'Advanced Offshore Solutions' by merging its two Norway-based divisions and combining the strengths in offshore mooring, loading and load handling businesses. With the new joint division MacGregor aims to gain synergies and improve the operations as well as customer service. Høye G. Høyesen has been appointed to lead the new Advanced Offshore Solutions division, which will become operative on 1 January 2016. Braemar Opens Crude and Products Ship Broking Operation
Braemar Seascope said it is strengthening its ship broking activities by opening a new division within the group’s Houston offices focusing on the large crude and products tanker trades. The new operation will launch following the employment of four tanker brokers: Nelson Hebert, Clint DeAtley, Chip Kelman and John Anderson have all come across town to the Braemar office. Electronic Marine Systems Acquires SMC Assets
Electronic Marine Systems, Inc. (EMS) of Rahway, N.J. has acquired the assets of Sarasota Measurements and Controls (SMC) of Sarasota, Fla., a leading manufacturer of land-based liquid storage tank gauging systems. SMC has more than 6,000 tanks installed worldwide. The new division of EMS will be known as EMS.SARASOTA. Rolland Piccone, president of SMC, will assume the position of general manager and will be responsible for all land-based application engineering and sales.
MacGREGOR Forms Offshore Division
The MacGREGOR Group recently unveiled details of its new offshore division, a division made possible by the recent acquisitions of Hydramarine in Norway and Plimsoll in Singapore. The Offshore division will comprise more than 660 employees: 160 in Norway and 500 in Asia. In 2006, Hydramarine and Plimsoll had a combined turnover of approximately €104 million and a order backlog of €175 million. TTS Acquires Umoe Schat-Harding
TTS Marine ASA has entered into a letter of intent with Umoe Industri regarding the takeover of Umoe Schat-Harding, which supplies lifeboats and other life-saving equipment to the shipping and offshore markets. The agreed purchase price is around $54.4m. Lifeboats and security equipment will by takeover of Umoe Schat-Harding be established as a new division in TTS, headed by the present managing director, Ove Røsseland. Umoe Industri`s basis for this transaction is to contribute to the development of TTS Group as an active and long-term shareholder. To facilitate active ownership, Umoe Industri AS will contemplate further acquisition of shares both before and after the execution of the agreement.
Milestone Renewable Contract for Expro
Expro Connectors & Measurements’ new renewable division has been awarded an important order by Alstom. Expro Connectors & Measurements (C&M) partners with Alstom to develop a cable connection and management system to be deployed on one of Alstom’s ocean energy projects, thus contributing to Alstom’s development of clean technology solutions to harness the energy potential of the world’s oceans. Expro will be supplying its SpecTRON, DigiTRON and FoeTRON wet mateable products alongside a cable connection system and termination head as well as cable protection and aftermarket services for site cable termination. This system will provide the subsea connection between the power export cable and the energy converter device.
SCHOTTEL Launches New Service Divisions
SCHOTTEL announced the creation of two new service divisions, Automation and Systems Engineering as well as Repair International. Stefan Buch was appointed director of the division Automation und Systems Technology. Laborde Opens New Texas Division
Building on its mission statement, "The Right Product, The Right Service, The Right Support", Laborde Products, Inc., headquartered in Covington, Louisiana, is opening a new division, Laborde Equipment Services (LES) in San Antonio, Texas. IMO Establishes New Division to Reinforce Security
IMO Secretary-General, Efthimios E. Mitropoulos, has established a new subdivision within the IMO Secretariat’s Maritime Safety Division to reinforce the high priority given by the Organization to matters of maritime security. The new sub-division will provide a stronger focus on security matters and will address the complimentary issue of facilitation of maritime traffic, under the leadership of Nicolaos Charalambous of Cyprus, who becomes Deputy Director. SCI Launches Liferaft Equipment Division
Survival Craft Inspectorate (SCI), a global provider of emergency marine evacuation systems, is to launch a new division at the Cruise Shipping Miami 2013 exhibition (March 11-14, 2013). The new division of SCI will supply, install and maintain emergency liferafts for the commercial cruise shipping and energy markets. SCI will initially open three offices in the United Kingdom with the first being at the company’s Findon operation. Initially 10 jobs will be created across the three new operations.
Cargotec Receives $75.2m in Orders
Cargotec’s MacGREGOR business area providing marine cargo handling solutions has received significant offshore equipment orders. The equipment will be delivered during 2008–2010 and the value of the orders exceeds EUR 55 million. The orders include an order for anchor-handling and mooring winches delivered for Chinese shipyard Yangzhou Dayang. The shipyard is building 32 offshore supply vessels that will be delivered for French shipowner Bourbon. The other orders include several orders for a total of 23 knuckle boom offshore cranes. The cranes will be delivered for 11 offshore supply vessels which will be built in several shipyards in Europe, USA and India. MacGREGOR established in June a new division MacGREGOR Offshore.
Andrews to Lead CWind’s O&M Division
Lee Andrews has been appointed as CWind’s new global head of operations for maintenance and asset management (O&M) services. Andrews joins CWind from Siemens Energy where he started his career as an apprentice technician 25 years ago and progressed through increasingly senior roles culminating in the role of Head of Installation Technicians and Site Management Group Siemens UK, in the wind energy division which he held for the last four years. In this role he led the development of a UK infrastructure to support the recruitment and building of a high performing team of technicians, operational managers and back office staff, servicing all of Siemens UK offshore wind construction projects.

Australian Maritime Regulatory Landscape to Change
Australian Parliament's new maritime legislation will revamp Australian maritime regulatory responsibilites in 2013. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) will become the national regulator for all domestic commercial vessels in Australia, with state and Northern Territory maritime agencies exercising AMSA delegations in administering national standards. The new Navigation Act 2012 will modernise the way international shipping is regulated by AMSA, providing for high levels of safety and protection of the marine environment through transparent and flexible regulation. Liles Heads Structurmarine Timber Dock Division
David Liles was appointed U.S. sales director for the new division, bringing more than 30 years of marina experience in the timber dock market. Stolt-Nielsen Enters Asian Bitumen Tanker Market
Stolt-Nielsen S.A. (SNSA) (Oslo Børs: SNI), announced today that it has signed an agreement with Xinshun Shipyard in China for the purchase of up to six 5,900 deadweight ton (dwt) bitumen tanker newbuildings due for delivery from February 2010. Under the terms of the agreement, SNSA has placed firm orders for two ships and holds options to purchase a further four ships.
